The Warranty Technician is responsible for providing technical teardown and analysis of shock absorbers that potentially have caused performance failure modes. • Receives in failed or damaged shock absorbers from internal or external customers.• Performs visual, performance, noise and tear down analysis of shock absorbers in order to identify the root cause of the performance failure modes.• Performs microscopic analysis on components to investigate any abnormalities and causes for assembly failure.• Documents and maintains records of all analysis performed. (Including; Internal and External Databases)• Communicates and presents summary findings to Quality & Engineering teams.• Accesses and analyzes available data from production failures to identify any trends.• Performs daily documented analysis of production failures and assemblies in compliance with print specifications in a timely manner, in order to determine proper corrective action. Assures time-sensitive deadlines for analysis and determination are met.• Determines failure modes and root causes by utilizing safe tear-down and testing of returns, microscopic examination of components, data recording, and photography / analysis.• Experience in suspension components with strong mechanical aptitude and ability to teardown automotive components.• Experience using various test equipment and gauges (e.g. calipers, micrometers, height gauge, Performance testers, etc.).• Knowledge of Metrology, GD&T, Blueprints, Measuring Techniques, Calibrations, Traceability, Quality Standards and ISO Standards.• Experience using various hand tools and possesses good hand-eye coordination with ability to perform detailed work with a strong attention to detail and quality.• Demonstrated knowledge of basic math, including working with decimals, and strong mechanical aptitude.• Proven ability to effectively communicate technical information in one-on-one & small group situations to Customers, clients, & others.• Position requires the ability to work flexible hours and required overtime to support production demands.• Highly organized with ability to work independently as well as part of a team.It is thyssenkrupp Bilstein of America's policy to recruit, hire, and promote qualified personnel in all job classifications without regard to race, creed, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, marital status, national origin, disability or veteran status.
