The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a Production General Supervisor, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

• Supporting continuous improvement projects and activities in EHS, productivity, and quality.


• Creating a positive, safety first culture


• Being responsible for performance management of the production team


• Developing and coaching the production supervision staff


• Effectively resolving issues and conflicts related to production team and direct reports


• Driving problem solving through operator involvement to determine best solutions for complex problems


• Implementing and/or reinforcing Lean Management Systems including: Production Status Boards, Daily Accountability Board, Daily Accountability Process, Tier Review Meetings, Standard Work for Leaders, Visual Controls and Layered Process Audits


• Supporting New Production Introductions


• Red Wing operations run 24 x 5 multiple shifts.  The position is primarily a day shift role, but some off-shift coverage may be expected.

Your Skills and Expertise 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

• High school diploma/GED or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution


• Ten (10) years of manufacturing experience in a private, public, government or military environment


• Five (5) years of supervisory and/or leadership experience in a manufacturing environment in a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution


• Knowledge of relevant 3M Fall Protection processes and software


• Experience with manufacturing production reporting systems


• Experience leading and/or participating on SixSigma projects or Lean Manufacturing activities


• Diverse experience with manufacturing technology and operations


• Excellent communication skills and ability to interact on a broad basis (external/internal customers, employees, and plant leadership)


• Influence skills to support positive change acceptance within the work team

Travel: May include up to 5% domestic
