Job Summary

The Plant Supervisor is responsible for supporting the operation and maintenance of Luminant Power Generating Stations. The position may require some travel in the support of other Luminant Power Generating Stations.

Key Accountabilities

• Responsible for seeing that all worker protection safety requirements are in place(i.e. lockout/tagout, welding/cutting, excavations, fall protection, ,con­fined space entry, etc.)

• Supporting all aspects of the day–to-day operation and maintenance of a generating station


• Accountability can include supervising and directing multi-skill production and maintenance support personnel to achieve maximum reliable and safe operation of the generating units


• Effectively manage employee/labor relation in accordance with company policies and labor agreements where applicable


• ​​​Plan and conduct meetings with maintenance personnel. Attend and participate in meetings with management personnel. Research and develop plant improvements by leading/participating on various committees/teams.


• Ensure and monitor safety and environmental compliance, regulatory compliance, administrative and procedural compliance, and documentation


• Assist in the coordination and implementation of special projects


• Supervisor may be asked to respond to emergency call out situations and assist in trouble shooting of system problems


• Interface frequently with outside vendors and contractors


• Planning and Scheduling for plant site

Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent


• 5-7 years of power generation plant electrical experience


• Candidate must be experienced in using Maximo for planning work, creating purchase requests, and creating job plans


• Candidate must be experienced in WST, the preferred scheduling tool used by Luminant         

Preferred Experience:

• Experience with operations and maintenance at a power plant particularly electrical experience on a unit with coal fired supercritical boiler


• Knowledge of electrical systems (motors, relays, switchgear), plant operations and maintenance management processes preferred. ​


• Technical background or Instrumentation and Control background is a plus


• Power generation plant supervision, leadership, communication, problem solving and decision making skills


• Good computer skills using Word, Excel, and Outlook


• Experience in computer maintenance management systems and an understanding of Maximo programs


• Planning, scheduling, craft supervision, and/or contractor management experience preferred.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:
This position requires the ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities in the following environment:
- Work in an environment ranging from office to in-plant. Plant environment exposures includes all weather elements as well as noise, dust, extreme heat and activities such as climbing stairs and wearing personal protective equipment including occasional use of respirators.
- Use of a PC, computer terminal and/or telephone usually more than 6 hours a day.
- Occasional unscheduled trips to the plant after normal work hours and on scheduled days off.
- Frequent long hours and occasional irregular hours.
- Required presence on the job during severe weather events such as abnormal cold weather, major rainfalls and other heightened awareness situations such as security alerts.
- Occasional travel between company facilities and occasional overnight travel.
- Must be able to comply with TXU respirator policy.
