Our Arthrex location in beautiful Santa Barbara, CA is seeking a proactive Automation/Test Engineer II to support product development activities including testing of surgical camera systems and electro-mechanical arthroscopic systems for operating rooms worldwide. 

 

Qualified candidates will need to have a bachelor’s degree or higher and a minimum of three years of experience designing/developing innovative test processes and methodology improvements from an end-to-end test perspective.  Must be proficient with controls, automation, and electrical troubleshooting.  Six Sigma certification highly preferred.

What you will be doing:

• Architect test and diagnostic programs through the utilization of test equipment including oscilloscopes, wave form monitors, RF test equipment, digital multi-meter, Video Test Equipment, Light Box, and Lumens Measurement equipment.


• Designing and Programming test fixtures and electromechanical test tools for production.


• Complete validation specifications and procedures for new and changes to existing products.


• Document test plans and instructions, SOP, MAP, MAT, Validation Protocols and Reports.


• Perform failure analysis, analyze and document results, and write reports.


• Coordinate test activities with suppliers, develop corrective actions, address line fallout to improve yields, reduce scrap and improve efficiencies.


• Analyze and develop automated Process Test Yields tracking.

 

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor of Science degree required, preferably in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Computer Science. 


• 3 years of relevant work experience required


• Work experience with testing camera and optical systems in the medical device industry preferred.

 

Knowledge and Skills:

• Experience optimizing Electrical Test Processes for manufacturing required.


• Knowledge of developing automated testing solutions for manufacturing of camera systems including optics, electronic design, analog circuit design, electro-mechanical design, high speed digital circuits and servo motors highly preferred.


• Experience with software such as Altium, MATLAB, LabView, Visual Basic, and Python highly preferred.


• Understanding of robotics and software used to control robotics required.  Experience with vision system applications highly preferred.


• Knowledge of camera equipment and instrumentation, electronic test equipment, PC, Logic Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, Video waveform analyzer, TDR, pneumatics, robotics, Servo Motors preferred.
