Senior Microbiologist

The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a Sr. Microbiologist, you will be part of a team designing and developing new products used in the food safety testing industry.  3M is a leader of innovative solutions that help the food and beverage industries optimize the quality of their products to enable consumer protection. • Working with cross functional teams to transform customer insights and needs into impactful new products


• Leading independent lab work to design and develop new products


• Designing and implementing method development and validation studies


• Developing finished product and raw material specifications, processes, and standards


• Developing documentation and ensure compliance with Heath Care Business ISO requirements and 3M corporate processes


• Leading and/or supporting product testing to verify design intent of products


• Working with manufacturing sites to scale up new designs for production

Your Skills and Expertise 
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution in a Biology field (Such as Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry)


• Three (3) years of experience in the development and/or use of Microbiology Testing Products in a private, public, government or military environment

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Master's degree in Microbiology or Food Science


• Experience in the Food Safety Testing Industry

Travel: May include up to 10% domestic/international

Relocation Assistance: May be authorized

Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).
