Job Description:

H2M architects + engineers , a multidiscipline architectural/engineering/environmental consulting firm in Melville, NY seeks aProjectLand Surveyor for our Parsippany, NJ Office.He/She will be responsible for selecting and applying standard surveying techniques in the field and office to plan, organize, and execute land surveying projects.

Job Responsibilities:


  • Receive instructions on specific assignments, objectives and complex features

  • Performs a variety of in-office and field tasks associated with land surveying projects obtained by the company

  • Broad understanding and experience for operating surveying equipment, such as Total Stations, Data Collectors, GPS RTK & Static Observations

  • Accurately calculates and records field data

  • Reviews job specifications and plans fieldwork methods and costs

  • Apply standard scientific/engineering techniques, procedures and criteria, using judgment in making adaptations of standard methods and techniques in the field and office

  • Review and download field data

  • Prepare field notes and draw sketches of existing site conditions

  • Prepare detailed daily job reports and discuss projects with supervisor on daily basis

  • Maintain and troubleshoot complex instrumentation

  • Drafting and editing of surveys using AutoCAD Civil 3D.

  • Perform other like duties as assigned

Education and Qualifications:


  • Must have minimum 5 years of experience, related to surveying experience. Which includes broad understanding and demonstrated experience/knowledge of operating surveying equipment. (Total Stations, Data Collectors, GPS RTK & Static Observations.)

  • Profession Land Surveyor (PLS) in the State of New Jersey a plus.

  • Strong knowledge and demonstrated experience using Survey CADD or related software.

  • Demonstrated experience and strong knowledge of survey calculations, techniques and procedures.

  • Good judgment and organizational skills

  • Valid Driver's license

  • Ability to stand, climb and walk continuously during an 8-hour period

  • Ability to perform strenuous work in a varying climate (heat and cold, etc)

  • Must have good computer skills and be able to learn survey related software

  • Good verbal and written communication skills

  • Working knowledge of AutoCad
