I. JOB SUMMARY

A red team analyst will participate in the selection, design and execution of various offensive security testing for Emergent, covering a wide range of targets. A successful applicant must be capable of evaluating environments, systems or processes to discover weaknesses, and turn those discoveries into actionable real-world attacks.

A successful candidate will possess an effective aptitude in security of operating systems, networking protocols, firewalls, and middleware applications, scripting, and programming. A working knowledge of forensics is also a plus. The ability to effectively translate highly technical information for less technical internal customers is a must.

II. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Perform a wide range of offensive security testing: this includes network penetration, application, wireless, and social engineering testing, with a working knowledge of IDS/IPS and host-based evasion techniques.


• Develop comprehensive and accurate reports and presentations for both executive, and technical audiences


• Provide risk appropriate and pragmatic recommendations to correct items identified


• Configure and safely utilize attacker tools, tactics and procedures for the Emergent environment


• Develop scripts, tools or methodology to enhance Emergent's offensive security processes


• Provide guidance and aid to advance Emergent's capabilities and ability to defend against cyber attack.


• Work across the organization to provide direction for Information Security initiatives. Assist information owners in identifying and implementing controls to mitigate the threats to the organization's information assets and computing resources. Identify and recommend security solutions to meet the changes in technology and business operations.


• Consults with IT and business areas management regarding their security risks and responsibility in minimizing those risks.

III. MINIMUM EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS

• Degree Preferred


• 6 years relevant experience in 2 (or preferably more) of the following


• Network penetration testing and manipulation of network infrastructure


• Web Application Assessments


• Email, phone, or physical security assessments


• Shell scripting, or automation of simple tasks using Perl, Python or Ruby


• Developing, extending, or modifying exploits, shellcode, or exploit tools


• Experience with red, blue, or purple teaming exercises


• Ability to design and align testing with overall enterprise strategic objectives


• Working knowledge of tools used for wireless, web application and network security testing, such as Kali, Metasploit, Burp Suite, Core Impact, Cobalt Strike, Nessus, Web Inspect, and Scuba.


• Solid understanding of Windows/Linux/Unix/MacOS operating systems


• MUST be a continuous learner, with a desire to stay current on security trends, tools, technologies, and best practices.


• Demonstrated ability in critical thinking, enjoy solving complex problems, and


• Strong interpersonal and networking skills with a solid ability to work in a team environment.


• Ability to work under stressful and tight deadlines as well as the ability to lead in a fast-paced environment.


• Ability to multi-task, discerns patterns in detail.


• Think through problems for logical solutions and remain calm and professional under stress.


• Able to work with highly confidential information.


• Solid understanding of virtual machines running under hypervisors


• Implementation level familiarity with common classes of modern exploitation, such as XSS, XMLi, SQLi, etc


• Solid understanding of network protocols, data on the wire, and covert channels


• Programming Skills are preferred and encouraged, as well as the ability to read and assess applications written in multiple languages


• Industry certifications such as OSCP/OSWE/OSWP/OSEP, GPEN, GCIH, GWAPT, eCPPT/eWPTX


• Willingness to mentor junior staff members and less technical resources to enhance career development
