The Virginia Mason Center for Hyperbaric Medicine is the Northwest's regional referral center for hyperbaric medicine. It is a multi-place, critical care-oriented, hyperbaric facility available 24 hours a day. It is the only Northwest hyperbaric facility accredited by the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society and only the second in North America to receive accreditation "With Distinction." It is also the only Northwest facility staffed with physicians who are board certified in hyperbaric medicine.


The facility is nationally recognized for its research in the areas of carbon monoxide poisoning, decompression sickness and the adverse effects of radiation, and is the regional referral center for the Divers Alert Network. The center also serves as the primary backup facility in the region for the United States Armed Forces as well as the Environmental Protection Agency, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and police, fire and rescue agencies.



The registered nurse provides high quality, skilled nursing services to assist patients to achieve optimum health and functional health status following an illness requiring hospitalization. Through collaboration with physicians and other health care professionals, the nurse prepares the patient and family for discharge to home or another setting for continued care.


Qualifications:


  • CurrentWashington State Registered Nurse license required.

  • Hyperbaric RN experience preferred.


  • Critical care experiencepreferred.

  • Experience with VMMC hyperbaric patients preferred.

  • BSN strongly preferred
