POSITION SUMMARY:

This position will be supporting the commodity management team in its sourcing activities being primarily responsible for purchasing and controlling inventory of raw materials and components for New Product Introduction (NPI).

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:


  • Communicate with vendors regarding price quotes for new and special components. Works with manager to analyze quotations in terms of price, quality, availability, service, warranty, and the consistency of each.

  • Must be able to collect, organize and analyze data in a meaningful way to facilitate decision-making. Must be able to communicate information to other plant locations to ensure continuity between plants.

  • Must become proficient with J. D. Edwards operation, and be able to enter and maintain purchase orders and/or release/delivery information.

  • Process ECOs using engineering software and tracking progress of same. Log ECR/ECO, prepare RFQ-pull prints, identify suppliers to quote, quote analysis; assign ECOs to other team members as required; notifying SQE of PPAP sample availability communicate internally with different functional areas and externally with suppliers; prepare periodic progress reports and presentations.

  • Support productivity with NPD-VAVE project activities with engineering, product management and Commodity Managers.

  • Support category manager with new product project launch assignments, by ordering samples from prototype from Prototype up to Production Validation Testing (PVT).

  • Apply logistical options and associated costs to assure that material flow from suppliers to ESG results in a high quality delivered product with an optimal cost structure.

  • Prepare and issue reports and/or correspondence using Power Point, Excel, Word.

  • Must be proficient with advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite (Mail Merge, Pivot Tables, VLookup, etc.) and SharePoint.

  • Support team members in their absence - warranty, supplier quality, and meeting participation.

  • Monitors and maintains appropriate inventory levels of raw materials and other components required to manufacture New Products. Includes verification of accuracy of receiving records (price and quantity), analyzing and/or adjusting releases from new or existing purchase orders, working with sales and/or engineering to identify upcoming orders and subsequent component requirements, researching any invoicing discrepancies for component/raw material purchases, etc. Must be able to make decisions based on the information collected above, and be able to communicate this information as necessary to all appropriate parties both internally and externally.

  • Process requests/requisitions for Prototype, Demo, Alpha, Beta and PVT builds. Includes verification of appropriate approval levels, verification of proper account coding, creation of purchase orders, and placement of approved orders. Orders must properly identify the intended recipient of such orders and refer back to the Requisitioner.

  • Must be able to maintain a high level of organization throughout all daily activities. To include, but not limited to, documentation of all verbal and written correspondence with others (internal and external), proper filing of such information, planning and scheduling of appointments and the coordination of such with others within the department and/or company, time management and the prioritization of tasks. Must document on the purchase order all details relative to supply of a given component to allow for tracking and/or follow-up by others in the event of absence of the employee.

  • Attendance at work, including presence at work during regular working hours or other schedule as may be assigned by the department manager, is essential. Acceptance of overtime assignments may also be required in order to meet departmental goals and objectives.

  • Must be courteous and professional to others (internal and external). Must maintain a "customer service" attitude toward plant, supervisory, and management personnel to ensure that our ultimate customer receives the highest level of service. Must have the ability to interact with vendors, customers and others in a confident, professional manner.

  • Performs other duties as may be assigned.

  • Must have a good attendance record.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree is required in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management or equivalent experience.
  • At least 3 years' experience in the Purchasing field.
  • Must be able to handle multiple wide range tasks.
  • Ability to work with computer-based information and systems, including Microsoft Office applications.
