Job Description

Visa's communications team seeks an experienced Director of Editorial and Content. In this role, you will provide the leadership, management, and vision necessary to produce best-in-class journalism across the Visa Newsroom, corporate blog, Visa's social media platforms (Linkedin, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube), and other online publications. You are experienced in giving a voice to executives in technology and establishing company thought leaders, helping them to grow their channels in an authentic way.

You are the "chief storyteller" on the communications team, developing the guidelines and managing the production flow for owned content. You are a data-driven marketer who uses insights to understand your audience's needs and motivations and the communication channels they prefer. You think strategically and possesses a strong ability to conceptualize, develop, drive, coordinate and manage a wide range of high-performing relevant content and communications.

The successful candidate is passionate about building brands and deepening relationships with audiences, customers and communities. You are a strong project manager who improves content processes, implements solutions to ensure that the team is functioning efficiently and collaboratively, and ensures quality and compliance. You have a deep knowledge of what makes content successful across channels and be skilled in writing and storytelling through imagery and video.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Act as a "chief storyteller" to bring Visa's corporate and purpose to life through stories that ignite interest in our readers. Ensure all content is on-brand and consistent in terms of style, quality and tone of voice, and optimized for search and user experience across the Visa Newsroom, corporate blog, Visa's social media platforms (Linkedin, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube), branded content, email, mobile, video, and print

  • Support the digital executive visibility program, collaborating and interacting directly with executives and business owners to suggest stories that meet our goals. Publish final content in an authentic style, ensuring easy consumption by internal & external audiences

  • SEO copywriting and technical writing:

    • Plan and execute SEO strategies to meet Google's guidelines and increase the search visibility, rankings and organic traffic

    • Working with our agency, create, analyze and report on KPI and SEM performance through search management platforms to ensure proper content distribution



  • Working with the analytics team, define and publish key metrics for measuring the ROI of content across all channels, making recommendations for future content

  • In partnership with colleagues across the business, own the cross-functional global editorial calendar and the technology behind the calendar to ensure it scales globally. Own the content production schedule to meet publication deadlines

  • Develop an audience acquisition strategy for the corporate blog to increase subscribers

  • Create monthly and quarterly newsletters, a roundup of relevant news by audience

Desired Skills and Experience:


  • Prior experience in content publishing or corporate communications

  • Exceptional writing and communication skills with a keen editorial eye for detail and a strong background in fact-checking

  • 5 years of content marketing experience with a deep understanding of SEO best practices, keyword research, Google Analytics, and data mining

  • Comfortable working in a highly matrixed, global organization

  • Ability to analyze external trends and translate those to content opportunities

  • Ability to work across multiple departments, collaborating with marketing to manage SEO strategy

  • Strong understanding of the world of social platforms and multi-channel strategies

  • Proven ability to drive strategy and execution of large and complex, multi-disciplinary projects

  • Proven track record of having strategic dialogue with executives and customers

  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment and pitch new, exciting ideas on a consistent basis

  • Strong organizational skills, including ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines

Qualifications

BasicQualifications:

  • 10 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or at least 8 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters/ MBA/JD/MD) or at least 3 years of work experience with a PhD

  • Prior experience in content publishing or corporate communications

Additional Information

Work Hours:

  • Varies upon the needs of the department

Travel Requirements:

  • This position requires travel5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements:

  • This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers, reach with hands and arms, and bend or lift up to 25 pounds.
