We are seeking a Software Engineer II on our Shop Amplify team. This team manages experiences that range from adding to cart from the home page to building new or updating existing components for the site. We are looking for someone who is knowledgeable in JavaScript frameworks and Agile software development practices, to work on key digital/e-commerce initiatives on BestBuy.com.

The Software Engineer II role is transitioning from a support role into a technical leader on the team. The engineer is also transitioning from learning as a primary focus to mentoring, leading, and helping others grow on the team. They are starting to be recognized as experts in their area.

Key Responsibilities

• Onsite lead for offshore (Chennai) engineering team.


• Coordinate and communicate business needs with technical solutions between the onsite product manager and offshore engineering team.


• Work on spikes and determine solutions to technical challenges.


• Develop new user-facing features using React.js


• Translating designs and wireframes into high-quality code


• Build reusable code and libraries for future use


• Ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs


• Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders


• Providing quality and thoughtful feedback on peer code reviews.


• Optimize application for maximum speed and scalability


• Write unit tests and integration tests

• 2 or more years of experience and a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field; OR equivalent relevant professional experience


• 2 or more years of experience using JavaScript

• Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field


• 3-4 years of relevant professional experience


• Experience leading an offshore team


• Experience using Node.JS and/or Jest
