Job Description:

ARA is seeking a civil engineering technician to operate, maintain, and repair specialized pavement data collection equipment for highway infrastructure assessment, in support of ARA’s contract with the Florida DOT State Materials Office (SMO) in Gainesville.

This position involves extensive travel throughout the State and requires an excellent driving record and driving skills, mechanical ability, and basic computer knowledge. When not traveling, technicians perform office-based activities, such as equipment maintenance and data processing.

No previous pavement testing experience is necessary; however, applicants should possess good communication skills, mechanical aptitude, a willingness to learn and be challenged, and flexibility. 

This is an FLSA non-exempt status position. The rate of pay for this position ranges from $14.25/hr (no pavement testing-related experience) to $16.50/hr (experienced pavement testing equipment operator).

Experience


Required


  • • Must be 21 years of age or older

  • • Must be willing and available to travel, sometimes for a week or more at a time

Preferred


  • • Previous experience operating pavement testing equipment such as Falling Weight Deflectometer, Pavement Profile, Rut and Cross-Slope, Ground Penetrating Radar, Digital Survey Vehicle, Dynamic Cone Penetrometer, SurPro, Faultmeter, Mobile Retroreflectometer, etc.

  • • At least 1 year of previous mechanical experience (e.g., performing routine inspections and/or troubleshooting issues with aircraft, automobiles, or related specialized equipment)

Education


Preferred


  • Associates or better in Civil Engineering Tech or related field
