FCCI is seeking a talented Trial Attorney to join a team of attorneys, paralegals and support staff in defending FCCI insureds in bodily injury and property damage liability lawsuits. The Trial Attorney’s responsibilities includes developing and implementing strategies to achieve team litigation objectives and obtain prompt resolution of claims, while maintaining a cooperative partnership with Claims staff in the handling of all lawsuits. The contemplated locations for this position are within the South Florida area (Dade/Broward/Palm Beach). The Attorney will work remotely within this Florida region, with full support from the home office legal team located in Sarasota, Florida at FCCI’s headquarters. 

The selected individual will be responsible for handling primarily bodily injury lawsuits, as well as property damage liability lawsuits against FCCI insureds for mediation, pre-trial, trial and post-trial resolution. In addition, the selected individual will prepare and manage pleadings, motions, discovery, depositions and any other tasks or duties necessary for the proper representation of FCCI insureds in accordance with sound litigation practices. Drive results to recognize, promote, and effectively negotiate settlement opportunities, including all aspects of liability and damages. Overall, engage in all aspects of FCCI’s Staff Counsel policies and procedures, including coordinating case handling with FCCI’s Claims Department.

Experience

Required

• * Juris Doctorate and admission to the Florida bar.


• * Minimum of four years’ recent experience as a successful, practicing attorney in complex commercial insurance litigation; additional experience preferred.


• * Advanced commercial insurance defense litigation experience, including jury trial experience.


• * Advanced knowledge of bodily injury and property damage liability.


• * Advanced knowledge of insurance laws and regulations.


• * Ability to provide effective legal counsel.


• * Excellent communication, negotiation, interpersonal and organizational skills.


• * Ability to analyze, define and solve problems; the use of good judgment and decision-making.

Preferred

• * First Chair Trial experience.


• * Some Construction Defect experience.
