Job Description:



Responsible for compliance with applicable health, safety and environmental laws and regulations of the jurisdictions in which we do business and other requirements to which Meritor subscribes. Evaluate and maintain the Health and Safety and Environmental Management Systems in accordance with the ISO 45001 and 14001 international standards and adopt appropriate objectives and targets to achieve continual improvement.

Job Responsibilities:

Core Responsibilities:

The Environmental Health and Safety Manager has the responsibility and authority to:

• Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformities relating to the EHS Management System

• Identify and record such actions and track initiatives for correction and improvement within the Meritor Production System

• Initiate, recommend or provide solutions through designated channels

• Verify the implementation of solutions

Additional Responsibilities:

• Set expectations for environmental compliance and assure the facility processes operate within permitting requirements and minimizes impact to the environment

• Set expectations for safety and health standards and improve the safety performance for the facility

• Identify facility deficiencies, recommend solutions, and implement corrective measures to assure proper facility operation to minimize risk of employee injury and environmental impact

• Identify and address strengths and improvement opportunities of subordinates through open communication, training, and counseling or corrective action when required

• Ensure subordinate involvement is maintained and oriented towards risk reduction

• Assure the inclusion of manufacturing and support personnel as required to improve the safety and health of all employees

• Maintain utility and operating budgets within planned levels

• Support the EHS Policy

• Ensure compliance to the Standards of Business Conduct through familiarity with related policies and procedures and compliance with all environmental health and safety regulations



• Knowledge of EPA Environmental and OSHA Regulations

• BS degree in Engineering with five years of experience in an industrial environment of related experience preferred.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills required, with the demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.

• Demonstrated interpersonal skills in motivating, directing, listening, counseling, evaluating, and training peers and subordinates

Preffered: • Familiarity with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 International Standards

• CSP Certification

Education Details:

Bachelor's Level Degree (Required)
