Summary:

We are currently seeking a Business Development Director for our Millersburg, Oregon location. You will report directly to the Senior Director of Sales and Marketing. The Business Development (BD) Director is responsible for understanding new business opportunities for ATI and leading the teams and projects that are targeted to address those new opportunities. The BD Director will also directly interact with existing customers whenever a new product or technical collaboration requires developmental efforts within ATI. This position requires the ability to discover customers' desired outcomes, an understanding of market dynamics and trends, technical knowledge of ATI's production capabilities and strengths, and the interpersonal skills to work effectively with both customer representatives and ATI personnel.

The Business Development Director is responsible for supervising a team of BD professionals who are tasked with identifying new business opportunities that align with ATI's strengths and growth strategy, and then leading the efforts within ATI to meet the emergent needs of the customer. This individual will work with ATI's Technology, Planning and Operational teams to deliver the initial/developmental product to the customer.In order to become successful, you'll have to quickly develop trust with customers through a combination of your technical knowledge and by being commercially savvy. You'll need to have strong interpersonal skills along with being a technical expert in materials science. A successful BD Director must be able to engage and communicate effectively with a wide variety of job functions, including customer representatives, ATI technical and operational staff, and leadership. To accomplish this, you will need to build a network of relationships with customers through regular communication, transparency and meeting our commitments on time.

Essential Functions:

* Understand the addressable and winnable markets for ATI products, with an emphasis on new markets with solid growth potential that align with ATI's technical and operational strengths.
* Ability to develop and execute business strategies that capture revenue growth to achieve growth targets.
* Obtain knowledge of market challenges and opportunities by interacting with customers at the appropriate conferences, trade shows, and technical exchanges. Learn about customers' unmet needs through direct conversations and formulate a strategy for ATI to gain significant new business.
* Generate the business case for any opportunity that requires technical development. Lead and champion the efforts within ATI to develop new products for customers, whether those efforts are executed with ATI resources exclusively or through collaboration with customers/partners.
* Serve as the "face of ATI" in strategic markets, and act as ATI's Subject Matter Expert for developmental collaborations with customers, from initial project scoping to delivery of the first batch of new material.
* Document customer meetings in the form of trip reports. Follow up with any associated action items.

Basic Qualifications
*Bachelors Degree in a technical field (Materials Science or Engineering).
*At least 10 years of experience within a manufacturing organization.
*A minimum of 3 years of formal leadership experience.Preferred Qualifications* Professional or sales experience in a manufacturing organization.* Knowledge of ATI current product lines and manufacturing capabilities.* General materials science principles, and technical aspects of ATI materials.* International sales and marketing, and basic business concepts.Required *The ability to obtain a Department of Energy Security Clearance.oCandidates must be willing and able to provide information necessary to verify eligibility and receive authorization to access Controlled Unclassified Information related to U.S. Department of Defense or U.S. Department of Energy programs.
