The Orthodontic Assistant is responsible for providing patient care and assistance to the Doctor with patient procedures.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:


The Orthodontic Assistant is responsible for providing patient care and assistance to the Doctor with patient procedures. The OrthodonticAssistant must perform and help the Doctor with direct patient care including cassettes, hand pieces, materials, instruments, etc.:





  • Educate patients on oral healthcare of braces and their appliances.




  • Assist Doctor with orthodontic treatment in accordance withstate regulations.




  • take diagnostic x-rays and photos and display those according to the type of procedure or appointment scheduled.




  • accurately chart and document all notes pertaining to the patient during the exam and treatment set forth by the Company guidelines.




  • review the patient's chart, medical history and treatment plan and consent forms prior to treatment, and identify any potential concerns for you and the Doctor to consider.




  • Complete chair-side duties efficiently, paying attention to detail.




  • Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment.




  • Communicate with parents/patients at the end of each visit to address concerns and answer treatment questions.




  • Maintain patient confidentiality through HIPAA compliance. Ensure any release of patient information is done according to the Company guidelines.




  • Attend and participate in all office meetings, continuing education events and morning huddles.




  • Take impressions pour and fabricate stints and study models, take Centric wax bites.




  • Stock drawers, clean, set up/break down patient chairs daily.




  • Be compliantwith state and federal OSHA laws, infection control, safetystandards in the dental office and operatory, including but not limited to: wearing personal protective (PPE) barriers such as gloves, scrubs, masks and eye wear; disinfecting and sterilizing instruments and treatment areas; and disposing properly of any contaminated or bio-hazardous waste/materials.




  • Travels between multiple offices as needed.




  • Additional duties will be assigned to achieve the Company standards and goals as efficiently as possible.





EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:



  • Minimum high school diploma, or equivalent.

  • Experience working in a professional, medical, or dental environment with direct customer service is desired.

  • Minimum of 1 year of orthodontic assisting experience.

  • Radiology certification andCertified Orthodontic Assisting credentials may be required*

SPECIFIC SKILLS:


  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills; must be able to establish and maintain positive working relationships.

  • Ability to travel between multiple locations.

  • Customer service oriented and able to communicate with a pleasant demeanor at all times.

  • Effective written and verbal communication with all staff and management.

  • Must possess excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail, be able to multitask and perform job duties in a timely manner.

  • Strong PC skills and ability to learn and successfully use new programs as required.
