Associate Engineer I – Labs and Approvals
New Bern, NC / Full-time
The Associate Engineer - Labs & Approvals is responsible for seeing testing is performed as requested and in a safe and efficient manner. Ensures documentation is complete and accurate and problems are observed, noted and analyzed. Ensures that facility and test equipment are operated, maintained and modified so as to be efficient and current at all times and that Laboratory Technicians are trained in test and measurement techniques.
Job Functions
• Setup Tests: Build test enclosures, Thermocouple test products
• Setup data acquisition system (LabView, LabTech)
• Setup and test gas components
• Summarize test data results
• Maintain test report records
• Plot data in graphic form as required.
• Help engineers and others understand the tests and data.
• Build test fixtures or equipment from drawings or specifications
• Review Field Test data and conduct failure cause analysis
• Implement product improvements
• Keep lab clean and orderly
• May supervise Laboratory Technicians and distribute work load
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
Your Profile
Specific Knowledge
• Sound basic knowledge of gas combustion and electricity
• Good problem analysis and record keeping skills
• Computer literate with experience in MS Excel and Access
• Good knowledge of National Instruments Labview Data Acquisition system.
• Some local travel may be required.
• Ability to handle confidential information.
• Ability to layout and build test cabinets and fixtures.
• Good appliance and component testing knowledge.
• Wide knowledge of laboratory instruments and fixtures.
• Excellent know how of regulatory requirements. (UL/CSA)
• Ability to create test procedures and schedules.
• Networked PCs
• Temperature recorders and meters.
• Data acquisition systems.
• Labview Data Acquisition System.
• General and special purpose performance testing equipment. (e.g. PLCs)
• MS Excel, ACCESS and Project.
• MS Outlook - Email and Calendar
