Job Description 

Summary/General Job Description/Mission: This role will be responsible for the daily activities of the site HR department, oversee recruitment, employee development, employee relations, policy interpretation, benefits administration and legal compliance and partner with site business managers to develop, attain, and communicate the site business strategies to employees.

Responsibilities Related to the Job: 


  • Interacts with hourly Union employees, as well as salary employees to demonstrate their concerns and ideas are heard and to serve as a clear line of communication between employees and management.

  • Conducts the recruitment and development effort for employees to meet business direction and goals and immediate and long range human resource needs.

  • Plans and conducts new employee orientations to foster positive attitude toward company goals.

  • Assesses, recommends, plans and conducts employee development training as necessary.

  • Oversees maintenance of site personnel records, benefit plan participation, personnel transaction records and associated recordkeeping.

  • Serves as a site Workday Administrator and first point of contact for related needs and updates

  • Responds to inquiries regarding company policies and procedures and communicates responsibly to workforce.

  • Administers compensation and performance management system according to company and budgetary guidelines

  • Serves as a support for site payroll function and has workable knowledge of Workday timekeeping system.

  • Performs local benefit administration to include claim resolution, change reporting, and communicating benefit information to employees.

  • Identifies legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions to ensure compliance.

  • Coordinates and participates in company-wide activities including holiday events, service awards and other recognition programs.

  • Dotted line reporting to the Corporate Compensation Manager to assist with tactical tasks associated with compensation.

  • Other duties as assigned to support North American Human Resources Team.

  • Maintain compliance with Ferro’s Code of Business Conduct, policies and procedures, management systems, and all applicable Environmental, Health, Safety other regulations

Required Qualifications and Knowledge: 


  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business or related field

  • 5-7 years’ experience in Human Resources in an manufacturing environment is required. 

  • Candidates must have a knowledge of human resources and employment law & policies.  Previous work experience in a Union manufacturing facility required.

  • Preferred expertise with HRIS software.

  • Position requires strong PC, analytical, decision-making and communication skills.

Travel Requirements:  20% - 25%

  • Minimal travel required. Must be able to travel with in the domestic US via commercial airline and automobile.

  • Work is predominantly performed in an office setting, must be able to traverse a production environment including wearing appropriate PPE.
