International Programs Coordinator at University of Oklahoma

Job Description:

The International Programs Coordinator works closely with the Assistant Director of International Student Programs in the International Student Services office to provide programming and support to the international student community at the University of Oklahoma. This position leads Airport Transport, a core component of New International Student Orientation each semester. Other projects include coordinating International Student Speakers Bureau, creating and implementing workshops and events, International Education and Awareness Weeks, assisting with Friends to International Students, and co-advising the International Advisory Committee. The coordinator position helps with internationalizing campus and actively working through international student issues.

This position is currently working mostly remotely. However, the coordinator position will need to work in person for events and other mandatory tasks. Some evenings and weekends required.

Responsibilities:


  • Lead all aspects of Airport Transport during New International Student Orientation (NISO), which includes hiring, training, and supervising temporary student workers that assist with welcoming students at the Will Rogers Airport and assisting new students to their accommodations in Norman. Involves troubleshooting issues between shuttle vendor, Housing, and new students as well as overseeing the budget.

  • Coordinate the International Student Speakers Bureau (ISSB) program that connects international students to local schools and community centers for students to share about their cultures; responsible for building community connections and recruiting student volunteers as well as transporting students to events. The coordinator helps students build their public speaking skills and provide cross cultural exchange opportunities in and around OU.

  • Co-advise the International Advisory Committee, assisting with IAC’s large cultural events and leadership retreat.

  • Plan and implement workshops and excursion programs specifically designed for international student acculturation, including International Education and Awareness Weeks.

  • Produce a weekly newsletter highlighting international community events.

  • Assist with Friends to International Students (FIS) that matches students with local host families by helping recruit host families, matching students with families, and planning events.

  • Collaborate with other OU departments

  • Develop and maintain programming budgets

  • Must be able to work occasional nights and weekends

Required Education: Bachelor Degree or equivalent combination of education/job related experience, AND: 


  • 0-24 months in student services


 Skills:


  • Proficient in navigating and maintaining databases

  • Proficient in Microsoft office

  • Ability to work independently with multiple deadlines

  • Must be able to create and deliver effective training presentations

  • Good organizational and interpersonal skills
