Job Description & Responsibilities

As a Program Engineering Manager, you will be a critical member of the Persistent Systems Engineering Team, working closely with Program Managers, Program Engineers, Engineering Product Leads, Ecosystem partners, and other strategic partners to support existing programs of record, develop new programmatic opportunities, and to solve our customer's most difficult mobile ad hoc networking (MANET) problems. As the supervisor to the Program Engineering team, you will serve as the technical lead and subject-matter expert in the development of MANET architectures and solutions and be responsible for all technical aspects of Wave Relay® MANET solutions offered to our customers. You will also play a pivotal role in our response to client inquiries (e.g., responses to RFI's, RFP's, etc.), communicate technical challenges to our engineering department, helping to shape future product development with your insight into customer challenges and market needs. This role is both an individual contributor and supervisor to the Program Engineering team. This role can be performed in any of our office locations: Fort Collins, CO, Pinehurst, NC or our NYC Headquarters. The Program Engineering Manager could also be performed in a remote location.

Position Responsibilities


  • Lead, supervise, support, mentor, and facilitate the Program Engineering team (across all programs) by initiating, prioritizing, and executing work related to program strategies.

  • Work directly with Program Managers and Program Engineers to understand requirements, resource initiatives, and take ownership from inception to completion.

  • Provide advanced technical support both internally and externally on integration and architecture best practices.

  • Create, execute, and disseminate test reports for root cause analysis and troubleshooting, field events, or other demonstrations.

  • Support Program Managers with key factors affecting program requirements shaping

  • Develop long-term customer relationships with clients through managing and interpreting their requirements

  • Support and respond, in an effective and timely manner, to RFI / RFPs or other contract deliverables, to include developing written professional-quality content on all generated artifacts

  • Support Ecosystem partner quarterly reviews and technology demonstrations

  • Support technical demonstrations, including customer events and tradeshows

  • Partner with the Program Team to develop requirements documents, presentations, proposals, and ROI models, and coordinate with a team of support specialists, consultants, or project managers

  • Maintain expert knowledge of Persistent Systems products to develop and present unique solutions, and maintain knowledge of emerging trends in technology and online advertising

  • Work closely with Product Managers and Engineering by providing feedback from information gathered during pre-sales projects


Job Qualifications & Experience

Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field or equivalent experience

  • Three or more years of experience in directly managing small-to-medium sized teams of three or more staff each and/or technical projects valued at least $100K each

  • Expert level knowledge of Wave Relay® MANET solutions and Wave Relay® products

  • Expert level troubleshooting ability, including expert knowledge of use of pcap to analyze networking issues

  • Experience presenting to large groups, including customers at various levels and a proven ability to adapt presentations to the technical level of the audience

  • Must be willing and able to travel up to 50% of the time

  • Must have a US Security Clearance or the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong fundamental understanding and development of competitive technical solutions for tactical communications

  • Master's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, or Master's degree in Business Administration

  • 3 or more years of experience with Defense, Communications, Intelligence, or Special Operations communication systems

  • Experience with managing and leading large teams and complex technical projects

  • Experience with UAS and other manned/unmanned platform programs from concept to delivery

  • Experience with wireless concepts such as MANET, Mesh, Ad-hoc, protocols and web architecture, with an understanding of hardware and software concepts

  • Experience working directly with customers and end users

  • Experience working with customer organizations such as large sized Government entities

  • Experience working with mid-size or larger Commercial organizations

  • DoD Information Operations and Cyber Security experience

  • Proficiency in advanced technical software packages such as Solidworks and MATLAB
