Job Description:

POSITION INFORMATION: Collaborates with the Program Manager, Project Coordinator, Principal Investigator, organizations, peers, and volunteers to identify, plan, and implement strategies for various programs for the ONIE Project.   Contributes to the design, development,  implementation, and evaluation of the educational programs with an emphasis to the Oklahoma Hispanic Population ONIE is committed to providing employees with educational and professional experience, significant responsibility that expands with experience, and a congenial team atmosphere.

 
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
 



  1. Strategies: Assist with the development of outreach strategies and marketing tools to reach priority audiences. Identify resources and opportunities to implement programming and policy, system, and environmental changes.


  2. Collaborate: Collaborates with program teams, community organizations, peers, and volunteers in the execution of events and activities. Contributes to the design and implementation of the program components. Developing and maintaining mutually beneficial relationships with agencies and organizations across the state. Provide program information to the public through public relations and media campaigns.


  3. Resource Identification: Identify the availability of services and resources and related gaps, identify local and state resources related to the availability of and access to services, and identify opportunities to impact relevant challenges. Distribute educational materials and programs to community agencies, local government, and state government. Provide guidance to agencies and organizations on assessment of health education needs and on development and delivery of health education programs. Seek out funding opportunities to expand programming for priority audiences.  


  4. Development: Provides educational program development, delivery, and evaluation.  Implement and manage community-based health projects involving community partners and stakeholders. Prepare and distribute health education materials (videos, blogs, brochures, flyers, etc.) about healthy lifestyles.


  5. Report preparation: Prepares regular reports of all activities performed and assigned program objectives. May conduct literature searches relevant to the program. Keep and manage records for reporting purposes.


  6. Writing: Develop, prepare, and coordinate project applications and project-related activities to obtain funding for health education programs and related work.


  7. Event planning: Organize community events, trainings, conferences and community presentations.


  8. Evaluation: May assist with formative and summative program evaluation including the design, implementation, and assessment, and the development of recommend improvements.  May serve as the moderator and data analyst for qualitative research methods.


  9. As needed: Perform various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position. Available beyond typical workday for community programming and research.

Education:  Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Community Health, Nutrition, Health Communications, or closely related health fields

Experience:  12 months experience in community outreach activities and/or health education

Preferred:  


  • Master’s Degree in Public Health, Community Health, Health Communications, or Nutrition

 

 

 Skills:


  • Knowledge of community outreach practices

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team setting

  • Strong writtten and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish

  • Demonstrates interest in promoting nutrition and physical activity through Social Marketing

  • Demonstrates interest in working with low-income populations

  • Computer proficiency including use of e-mail, internet searches, and Microsoft Office Product applications

  • Detail oriented and demonstrated organization skills

  • Basic qualitative and quantitative research skills

  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community

  • Must have time management skills

  • Must have social media and marketing skills and media relations

  • Ability to plan events and coordinate programs
