Mechanics Bank is looking for a Sr. Portfolio Manager for our REIG Commercial Lending. In this role, you will be responsible for managing a portfolio of Commercial Real Estate loans. The Sr. Portfolio Manager plays a key role in the Bank's loan retention program, recommends and implements loan resolution strategies, and interfaces directly with customers and assists in managing the risk of overall portfolio.
What You'll Do:
LoanMonitoring:
Responsible for ongoing asset management of assigned loan portfolio, developing relationships with borrowers and conducting regular monitoring reviews
Preparecreditreviewsassessingoverallqualityandassessing performance against original underwriting expectations
Credit reviews will evaluate information including borrowers/sponsor financial statements, tax returns, rent rolls, operating statements, and have a complete understanding of overall customer loan relationship
Loan Extensions and Modifications:
Conduct analysis of loan request and make recommendations to management regarding loan resolutions
Negotiate terms with borrower and manage the loan through the approval, documentation, and closing process
Portfolio Database:
Develop and maintain a portfolio database with detailed loan level information and conduct ongoing monitoring of database
Loan Retention:
Identify at risk loans for potential payoffs
Proactively reach out to customers and develop strategies to retain loans typically through refinance and extensions
Site Visits:
Conduct regular site visits assessing overall condition of collateral
Prepare inspection reports
Compliance:
Strict compliance with Bank policy and regulatory requirements
Who You Are:
Extensive experience in negotiating loan transactions
Ability to manage multiple clients, loan requests, deadlines, and other priorities using critical and creative thinking skills
Understanding of all aspects of commercial real estate lending including in depth knowledge of property types, construction, ordinances and other applicable regulations
In depth knowledge of California commercial real estate markets including understanding of status and trends of vacancy rates, capitalization rates, and other market and valuation metrics
Ability to analyze and interpret profit and loss statements, tax returns, balance sheet, and income and expense statements
In depth knowledge and understanding of real estate loan documentation
Full understanding and experience in Microsoft software with special emphasis on Excel, Word, and Adobe Acrobat
Ability to create spreadsheets, use database programs, use bank specific programs, and access reports
Full understanding of banking regulations applicable to commercial real estate lending including HMDA/Reg B, Fair Lending, BSA and others
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Business with emphasis in banking, finance or real estate preferred
Membership in relevant trade associations or bank trade groups preferred
