Job Summary:

The position within the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics provides assistance and back up in the shipping and receiving office that services three large buildings with very active teaching and research activity. Responsibilities include but are not limited to contacting vendors and other delivery personnel to provide shipping services to several buildings. Provide mail and postal service to building staff. Assist building occupants in set up and relocation of equipment and furnishings. Maintain liquid nitrogen supply and maintain equipment inventory. Coordinate and maintain new tracking system for shipping and receiving. Coordinate supply center for Invitro Program and provide back-up assistance for the Facilities Coordinator IV.

Required Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; more than 1 year, but less than 2 years experience or equivalent. Proven reliability, dependability. Must have excellent customer service skills and demonstrated ability to learn new things, communicate and work with a broad range of people. Attention to detail, organizational skills and prioritization skills are required. Able to lift 20 to 50lbs. Willing and able to handle deliveries of hazardous chemicals/substances. Experience with basic computer applications (MS Excel, MS Word, FileMaker, etc.). Ability to work well with a diverse group, including but not limited to; faculty, staff and students in a

professional, respectful work environment. Must be able to work independently while supporting the efforts of an overall team.

Preferred Qualifications:

Transport of hazardous chemicals certification (HAZMAT). Forklift operation certification. Experience with web-based package tracking systems and inventory control and invoicing applications. Familiarity with IATA, FedEx and UPS shipping regulations.

Essential Working Requirements: Typically lifts more than 50 lbs. May work in extreme cold conditions
