FARO is seeking a Senior FPGA Engineer for our Research & Development team in the Lake Mary, FL area. We want an innovative engineer with a creative mind willing to stretch the limits of technology to join our highly motivated engineering team. The Senior FPGA Engineer will focus on leading a small team in FPGA code development for image and video processing. In addition, the engineer will help HW engineers with the design and development of circuit boards relating to the FPGA development.

You have:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering


• 10+ years hands-on FPGA-based image processing development


• Experience leading small teams in FPGA development


• Experience with both System Verilog, Verilog and VHDL


• Experience creating image processing modules with MATLAB/Simulink


• Experience with Altera, Xilinx, and Modelsim development tools


• Experience with Version Control SW such as Git and SourceTree


• Outstanding debug/troubleshoot skills with Oscilloscope, Logic Analyzer, and on-chip analyzers such as Altera SignalTap or Xilinx ChipScope


• Embedded Microcontroller/Microprocessor/DSP and mixed signal circuit design experience


• Familiar with high speed digital circuit design methodologies


• Mid to high volume product commercialization experience desired


• Past design experience with Camera and Display products desired

How you will make a difference @ FARO:

• Architect, design, develop and test FPGA solutions relating to image and video processing, utilizing embedded processors and DSP designs as well as high speed digital interfaces to microcontrollers


• Maintain and update existing product's System Verilog/Verilog/VHDL code


• Design image/video processing modules using MATLAB/Simulink, and implement modules using Verilog/VHDL both with and without commercial video processing libraries


• Develop test benches to simulate and maintain the System Verilog/Verilog/VHDL code


• Troubleshoot with standard lab equipment and/or on-chip logic analyzers such as Altera SignalTap and Xilinx ChipScope


• Mentor junior engineers in all aspects of FPGA development


• Participate in the system integration of the hardware and firmware relating to the FPGA design


• Create block diagrams and test plans for all designs


• Conduct troubleshooting and determine root cause for circuit design, board design, or fabrication failures
