Position Description:
AMETEK Prestolite Power is in the business of providing superior battery charging solutions. Prestolite Power designs, manufactures and distributes high quality industrial battery chargers for the motive power industry.

Job Summary

The Test Technician is responsible for testing, troubleshooting and repairing battery chargers at pretest, CAT system and the repair area.

Specific Responsibilities

Testing, trouble-shooting and repair of uninterruptible power systems equipment, including inverters, rectifiers, chargers, static switches, AC regulators and associated equipment.
Perform verification testing on PC boards and various assemblies.
Interface with customers for factory acceptance testing as required.
Support improvements to test equipment and processes to reduce downtime and increase throughput.
Work with high voltages of 480VAC and 300VDC.

Position Requirements:

Experienced Test Technician with basic skills on soldering and assembling of electronic devices.
Possess electronics knowledge, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and proven troubleshooting skills.
Must be proficient in the use of multi-meters and other basic test instruments as well as demonstrate proficiency in the use of oscilloscopes.
Possess the ability to read, interpret wiring diagrams, assembly prints, schematics and parts lists.
The candidate must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel and Word.
Be experienced and able to use hand tools and small power tools.
Possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
Well organized and able to multitask several projects, capable to work independently, as well as, in a group setting.


The Test Technician must have a technology background that includes at least 2 years related experience in electronics and a versatile hands-on individual with good analytical skills. Experience with power electronics is highly desirable.


Associate's Degree in Electronics/Electrical Engineering Technology (or equivalent), from a recognized, fully accredited program is required or Military equivalent experience.

Physical Requirements

Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of force greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
Kneeling: Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
Crouching: Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine
Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
Standing: Particularly for sustained periods of time
Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work site to another.
Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly
Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and make fine discriminations in sound.
