JOB SUMMARY
Jabil has an exciting opportunity for a Global Quality Director with focus on manufacturing Semiconductor Capital Equipment. The position will be responsible to drive continuous improvement through the development and implementation of Global Quality processes, Global Best Practice implementation, and deployment of quality tools and techniques. The expectation of the position is to provide exceptional support to customers, team members, and shareholders using both fundamental and progressive quality tools. Location preference is the San Jose, California area with consideration given to other locations based on experience and qualifications. Relocation assistance also available based on experience and qualifications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Customer Engagement
Provide exceptional support to customers, team members, and shareholders
Ensure that current and future quality and manufacturing systems meet and/or exceed customer and regulatory requirements
Understand the customer’s business (new programs, product transitions, technology trends)
Review and promote improvement in customer metrics to ensure customer satisfaction.
Understand and champion customer requests for corrective/preventive action.
Serve as a Focal Point for major customer quality issues
Serve as champion for customer global quality initiatives
Lead key customer quality improvement projects
Drive sites to timely response to customer requests and strategic improvements
Drive read across of corrective and preventive actions to other sites where applicable.

Business Strategy and Direction
Support the globalization of business through leading and coordinating the standardization of systems, procedures and policies, and customer requirements across all of the Jabil workcells.
Know and understand the strategic directions of the Sector, the Division, and the overall Jabil enterprise.
Develop an understanding of Jabil Semi-Conductor Capital Equipment Sector's business strategy as it pertains to the Quality function.
Provide regular updates to the Semi-Conductor Capital Equipment Sector leadership, Global Quality team, BUDs, BUMs, WCMs, and Operations Managers staff on the execution of the strategy.
Support Business Unit in all Quality related aspects associated by potential and new business
Have a thorough understanding of the Sector's manufacturing capabilities, processes, tools and systems
Work with BU, Ops, Customer and peers to develop product quality objectives consistent with customer expectations and team plans.
Assume the Quality conscience of the team in all aspects of the business.
Provide accurate, timely feedback of production issues to the work-cell teams.
Establish relationships and contacts with Product Engineering and assembly personnel to understand process maturity and effects on transition to product realization.
Functional Management Responsibilities
Global Best Practice implementation
Deployment and training to manufacturing sites for quality tools and techniques
Drive continuous improvement through the implementation of quality engineering projects, global capability programs, and quality mentoring within Jabil’s manufacturing operations
Deployment of Quality tools ( Ex Root cause analysis, 3 Way 5 Why, Corrective and Preventive action, Lean 6 Sigma, etc.) on active manufacturing projects
Train manufacturing sites on both fundamental quality tools ( Root cause analysis, 3 Way 5 Why, 5 Ms, CAPA, FMEAs) and progressive tools ( tools within the Lean 6 Sigma family : MSA, DOEs, hypothesis testing, mistake proofing)
Establish new measurement systems, including system to monitor global product capability (Cpk and Ppk) and Cost of Quality
Exchange knowledge and information with other Jabil facilities to ensure best practices are both shared and implemented throughout the Jabil organization
Ensure that current and future quality and manufacturing systems meet and/or exceed customer and regulatory requirements.
Review and promote improvement in customer metrics to ensure customer satisfaction.
Act as a liaison between Jabil sites for program transfers including providing input into transfer plans and timelines, supporting data and knowledge transfer activities and participating in launch activities as needed.
Provide support and technical assistance to new facility and/or workcell startups.
Provide mentoring and technical assistance to direct reports and Jabil site Quality Managers and staff.
Propose, facilitate and execute new quality systems process to establish Quality as a competitive advantage in Semi-Conductor Capital Equipment
Identify creative ways to reduce waste by streamlining processes and systems (i.e. analysis of the requirements, modification of responsibilities or consolidation of tasks, elimination of non-value-added processes, or re-engineering of processes and systems).
Monitor trends in Quality data (yields, dpm, corrective actions) to identify continual improvement opportunities.
Act as a catalyst for changing the mindsets from one of reactively measuring the product to one of proactively monitoring the process for optimized performance and quality.
Assist in eliminating non value-added inspection by instilling an “inspection at the source” mentality.
Steer Customer Product Engineering and new program teams towards systems and information requirements that fit Jabil’s objectives of lower costs, less duplication of effort, and improved responsiveness.
Ensure real time containment and resolution of problems.
Drive the directives described within the Quality Policy throughout the Organization.
Maintain a thorough understanding of latest tools, techniques and processes, and promote “Best Practices” within the organization.
Successfully translate Semi-Conductor Capital Equipment industry and customer requirements to the sites.
Support Quality efforts from material qualification to end user reliability
Communicate quality policies effectively to all levels of the organization.
Exchange knowledge and information with other Jabil facilities to ensure best practices are both shared and implemented throughout the Jabil organization

Education & Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree preferably in engineering
15 years of experience in manufacturing operations and quality environment, including at least 8 years in a supervisory role required
Background and comprehensive knowledge of Semi-Conductor Capital Equipment requirements
Minimum 5 Years experience in quality in the Semi-Conductor Capital Equipment field with experience in mechanicals and electronics manufacturing
Proven Lean implementation experience in a manufacturing environment
Proven results leading quality engineering projects internationally, including Asia, Europe and North America
Foreign language experience preferred (ex. Chinese, Spanish, German, Polish, Hungarian, Ukrainian) Or a combination of education, experience and/or training
Travel if residing in the US will be 60% on average
Proven track record of successful change management accomplishments, implementing and management continuous productivity and cost reduction programs.
