The Sr. Director of Data and Analytics Engineering will be accountable for definition and execution of the Data and Analytics architecture and supporting tool set. This role is a hands-on technology thought-leadership role focused on building data technology solutions in an agile environment with advanced level expertise in Cloud data technologies and will be instrumental in building data technology talent and capabilities across the organization. The role will include oversight of technology talent and capabilities supporting all aspects of Data and Analytics functions across the company including operational data hub, Data Lake, Business Intelligence, Advanced Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning. This role will partner closely with the VP of Enterprise Data and the VP of Consumer Technology and Digital Solutions to define business opportunities, assess capabilities needed and provide innovative technology solution options using data technologies in a Cloud environment.

Duties and Responsibilities


  • Define and architect the appropriate cloud analytics components to deliver on the data and analytics strategy to support both operational and digital needs of the organization

  • Lead the engineering team responsible for the development of dashboards and reports

  • Responsible for evaluating and selecting analytics tools to streamline/automate the ingestion of data sources into the Data Lake

  • Develop processes to ensure data pipelines are in synch with source data and alerting is in place to notify support of issues that could impact the insights generated

  • Lead the development of data pipelines from source systems to the data lake

  • Optimize use of cloud compute and storage based on business analytics needs

  • Work with the team to teach and instill Agile best practices in how work is defined, estimated and executed

  • Prioritize the backlog of analytics capabilities working with the VP of Analytics, the VP of Digital solutions and key business leaders

  • Work with third parties and partners to provide data to them when buying vs. building analytics solutions makes business sense

  • Responsible for staying up to date on continuously evolving Cloud services and technologies in the Data & Analytics space

  • Oversees data extraction, transformation and loading of key data sources to the Data Lake

  • Deliver minimum viable products to market at rapid speed to support accelerating revenue growth and client retention

  • Expert in Data Analytics, Big Data, Data Warehousing, Data Lake and Cloud Technologies

  • At least 4 years of architecting Cloud Data Lakes for enterprise scale leveraging SQL and No-SQL technologies. Hands on experience with Big Data technologies (Hadoop, Hive, Pig, Map Reduce, NoSQL)

  • Experience architecting data solutions leveraged by a variety of modern database technologies such as Azure Synapse Analytics, Snowflake, Mongo and Cassandra

  • Extensive experience with and knowledge of multiple Data Warehouse/Data Mart architectures including Snowflake

  • Demonstrated skill at data cleansing, data quality assessment, and using analytics for data assessment

  • Experience working with SQL, R and/or Python

  • Expertise in multiple traditional and Cloud development tools

  • Structured problem solving to help a teamwork through a wide range of issues

  • Solid communication, presentation and analytics skills

  • Effective project management skills and ability to resolve critical problems; preferably knowledge of Agile development

  • Experience in a healthcare setting is desirable. (Preferred)

Education


  • BA or BS required. Preferably in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering

  • Advanced degree (Preferred)


Location


  • Remote/Subject to change based upon business needs. Flexibility to come on site as needed

  • Manage NJ and offshore-based team

  • Minimal travel required
