We are currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our fast-paced manufacturing team of individuals who contribute to the success of our customers by improving the manufacturing processes.

Roles and Responsibilities

1.  Develop and innovate manufacturing processes and equipment through lean manufacturing engineering:


  • Develop and lead the production process improvement.

  • Lead and facilitate manufacturing improvement projects and rapid improvement events to help the plants achieve safety, quality delivery and productivity metrics.  

  • Create a visual factory around material handling, cell design, standard work, manage for daily improvement (MDI) and equipment.  

  • Provide support to the facilities engineering and the maintenance team.

  • Perform historical data analysis and risk assessments on critical plant equipment and processes.  

  • Update, develop and audit standard work procedures to ensure people cost are minimized.

  • Implement production best practices resulting from cell design, standard work, equipment improvements and materials delivery systems. 

  • Problem solve with Manage for Daily Improvements (MDI) teams to hit their respective goals and objectives.

  • Develop and support monthly metrics and reports.

2.  Develop people to move the organization forward and sustain results:


  • Develop leaders who facilitate and lead rapid improvement events, projects and continuous improvement through their respective  processes.  

  • Develop leaders who problem solve effectively through MDI and other continuous improvement processes.

3.  Customer focused expert who ensures the lean manufacturing of our new customer products within the Apex value stream:


  • Support, on-board and integrate the tooling, packaging and production requirements of existing products into the Apex manufacturing environment.

  • Support and provide feedback on the concept and development project stages of new products to ensure process capability manufacturing efficiency and create seamless launches.  

  • Support accurate and timely identification and cost estimating of required tooling and equipment.

  • Support that tooling and equipment are ordered, delivered, installed and tested in accordance with project timelines and objectives.

  • Support comprehensive documentation and training is completed for new equipment. 

Experience


Preferred


  • 2 - 5 years: 2-5 years: This position requires at least 2-5 years of experience in a process improvement role within a manufacturing environment. At least 3 years of engineering and lean manufacturing work experience required.

  • To be effective, this position requires specific knowledge of lean manufacturing terms and techniques.  Knowledge in manufacturing, ideally in the personal care, cosmetics, food or pharmaceutical products industry and understanding of cGMP, DOE/SPC, CAPA, ISO, and CAD is highly desirable.
