About The Position

The Transmission Policy Specialist responsible for recognizing external opportunities and risks to Ameren in the regulatory and wholesale market environments, understanding how such opportunities and threats may impact Ameren Transmission and other Ameren business units, and leading the development of regulatory and business strategies, policies, and practices to maximize the opportunities and minimizing the risks.

Key responsibilities include:

*Develop a thorough knowledge of RTO (MISO, SPP, PJM) policies and processes.

*Develop strategy in educating, advocating and coordinating with both internal and external customers those issues and positions that are important to Transmission's success.

*Represent and advocate the company's position at various RTO stakeholder forums and industry conferences.

*Participate in various RTO committees and task forces to promote the development of transmission's business, protect Ameren's interests as an incumbent Transmission Owner in MISO and monitor RTO regulatory filings and tariff changes.

*Identify key relationships with other transmission companies and supporting groups that have similar issues.

*Participate in procedural hearing or legal cases, knowledge of our transmission business and projects as well as advocating other value added products and services that can be materialized given changes in the market rules and practices.

*Keep abreast of current industry developments potentially impacting transmission earnings.

*Provide support to Ameren Transmission's planning and construction departments, meeting reporting requirements of the RTOs and informing of policies that may impact or change the operations of the departments .

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in an accredited University required. MBA or similar advanced degree in business, finance, or engineering is preferred. Five or more years of experience in one or more of the following areas is required: Finance, commercial/power/commodities markets, corporate planning, government relations, ISO/RTO market participation, regulatory affairs/compliance or other directly relevant business experience.

In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

Strong oral and written communication skills required. Knowledge in the following areas is preferred: transmission rate making, RTO tariff and/or settlements, and/or federal or state regulatory policy and/or rate development. Proven human relations, organizational and administrative aptitude is also required. Strong initiative, detail oriented and able to handle multiple projects at the same time required. Travel, overtime, and/or off-hour work may be required based upon project needs.
