Based in our Eden Prairie, Minnesota location, the Senior Engineer - Embedded Firmware Development in Plantweb Technologies is responsible for leading Ethernet-based communication protocol.

This position reports to the Engineering Manager - Communication Technologies and is responsible for developing stacks and libraries such as HART/ HART-IP, OPC-UA, and Ethernet-based communication technologies.

The job functionality includes developing proof of concepts to confirm with protocol specifications and design architecture, develop and maintain solutions to communication protocol programs through accepted engineering techniques, practices, and procedures.

AS SENIOR FIRMWARE ENGINEER, YOU WILL: 


  • Lead ethernet-based industrial communication protocol domain and respective development projects
  • Responsible for firmware project activities like writing requirements, developing UML based detailed-level and high-level designs, planning firmware development schedule
  • Be a direct participant in the development process, including writing code (C, C++), unit testing, code reviewing, static analysis, and code debugging. Works independently on assignments – individual contributor.
  • Lead and participate in selecting appropriate tools, technologies, and platforms for product development and testing.
  • Establish guidelines and best practices for the group to ensure an effective development process and well developed and tested products that are easily maintained.
  • Work well in a structured, agile environment
  • Work on functional and conformance testing.
  • Ability to work independently and lead a domain with the least supervision

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:


  • Bachelor’s degree – Electrical / Electronics / Electronics & Communication / Computer / Instrumentation / Computer Science
  • 5+ years of experience in embedded firmware development in Embedded C/C++
  • Any ethernet-based communication protocols working experience (such as OPC-UA, Ethernet/IP, HART-IP, ProfiNet)
  • Proficient in multi-tasking / multi-threading environment using embedded RTOS and services
  • Proficient in embedded peripheral driver development such as I2C, SPI, UART, Ethernet Controller.

  • C++ and/or Object-Oriented Programming concepts are required
  • Robust analysis and problem-solving skills, quick learner, self-directed, creative problem solver
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as good presentation skills
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States - sponsorship will not be provided for this position 

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:  


  • Master’s degree – Electrical / Electronics / Electronics & Communication / Computer / Instrumentation / Computer Science
  • Intermediate level in UML based firmware design
  • Work experience with any industrial communication protocol is an added advantage
  • Knowledge of HTTP/HTTPS server and protocol is an added advantage
