Job Description:

H2M architects + engineers , a multidiscipline architectural, engineering, and environmental consulting firm, seeks a Talent Acquisition Specialist in our Melville headquarters office to support our HR team. This position is responsible for assisting with all aspects of the recruitment process, including but not limited to the following: source and screen applicants; conduct interviews; make recommendations to hiring managers; extend job offers; initiate background/reference checks; and assist with other aspects of the onboarding/new hire process as necessary.

The Talent Acquisition Specialist will partner with various teams within the firm to provide a high level of customer service to ensure the highest level of professional standards, positive interpersonal relations, and a problem-solving approach to all recruitment efforts. The ideal candidate will support H2M's continued growth and development by focusing on the recruiting function within HR. We are looking for someone with a passion for the employee experience who will exemplify a commitment to learning about our employees and various business markets/disciplines and locations. Responsibilities include the following:


  • Work closely with hiring managers and HR Business Partners to gain a comprehensive understanding of the company's talent needs.

  • Develop, maintain and implement strategic recruiting plan; optimize recruitment tools and and execute recruitment visibility efforts in conjunction with internal HR and Marketing department.

  • Manage annual recruitment budget and follow up with HR team and Accounting as necessary.

  • Work closely with the HR Business Partners to support the full cycle recruitment effort for position vacancies, which includes the development of requisitions/job descriptions, sourcing candidates, phone screens, conducting virtual and in-person interviews, background/reference checks and overall selection recommendations.

  • Build and maintain relationships with Hiring Managers and serve as the point of contact during the selection/recruitment process.

  • Provide analytical recruiting reports and updates for HR department, hiring managers, etc.

  • Provide additional support as needed.

The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following skills :


  • Minimum 5 years of progressive HR recruiting experience preferably within the AEC industry or related professional services firm.

  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's Degree in Human Resource Management preferred.

  • Knowledge and general understanding of current employment law and overall HR functions.

  • Ability to interface with staff and leadership team at all levels of the organization.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook; working knowledge and understanding of an applicant tracking system (ATS).

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and shift priorities based on business needs.

  • Ability to make independent decisions and handle difficult workplace situations in a calm and discreet manner.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with strong attention to detail.
