Production Supervisor at Koch Foods

Job Description:

In 1985, Koch Foods started as a one-room chicken de-boning and cutting operation with 13 employees. We’ve grown to be one of the top poultry processors in the U.S., but the core of who we are remains unchanged: a team that is adept, reliable and service oriented.

A Production Supervisor is primarily responsible for ensuring procedures are followed in achieving highest level of productivity in the most cost-efficient manner possible while still maintaining customer specifications. In addition, supervisors direct a team of employees, ensuring compliance with all food safety programs, and enforcing company policies. 

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Manage employee performance, providing positive and corrective feedback

  • Promote safety throughout assigned work area

  • Ensure proper staffing before start-up of production line

  • Supervise, coach and train employees, providing professional development through ongoing feedback of strengths and needed improvement

  • Mentor and motivate employees, providing training and development to optimize performance and personal growth

  • Facilitate employee meetings, including employee training

  • Ensure document completion and maintenance

  • Develop and maintain employee relationships while promoting company values (i.e. good attendance, strong work ethic, etc.) 

  • Communicate and ensure compliance with company policy, standards and procedures

  • Direct employees, ensuring production goals are met

  • Ensure compliance with established food safety programs, including HACCP, SSOPs and GMPs

  • Optimize employee engagement through positive leadership

  • Maximize yields, minimizing downtime, accidents and turnover

  • Plan and implement process improvements

  • All other relevant duties as assigned

Physical/Environmental Factors:


  • Cold, damp, wet environment with temperatures ranging from 40 to 90 degrees

  • Exposure to noise levels greater than 85 decibels

  • Climb stairs, frequently stoop, kneel, crawl, bend, and and lift various weights as needed

  • Exposure to strong, raw odors

  • High School Diploma or GED, Bachelor degree in Poultry Science, Animal Science, Business Management, or related field preferred

  • 1+ years supervisory experience, preferably in poultry or meat processing

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with English language skills (reading and writing) required

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills helpful

  • Proficient computer and analytical skills

  • Knowledge of floor production operations

  • Working knowledge of poultry processing, food safety regulations, OSHA guidelines, GMPs and HACCP

  • Proficient knowledge of production processes, general line maintenance and staffing

  • Proficient leadership skills and abilities

  • Proven team-building abilities

  • Sound work ethic, honesty and moral character
