Quality Assurance Technician (Manufacturing/Poultry) at Koch Foods

Job Description:

In 1985, Koch Foods started as a one-room chicken de-boning and cutting operation with 13 employees. We’ve grown to be one of the top poultry processors in the U.S., but the core of who we are remains unchanged: a team that is adept, reliable and service oriented.

The Quality Assurance Technician conducts quality assurance audits of production products; ensuring Company standards are maintained, and product integrity is preserved. QA Technicians consult with management resolving quality, production and efficiency issues. Additionally, the Tech adheres to safety guidelines, rules, regulations, and animal welfare policies at all times while meeting production requirements and providing the best quality product to our customers.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Resolve quality issues as presented

  • Confirm plant audit procedures are properly executed

  • Determine overall plant product quality, conducting tests and evaluating results

  • Evaluate and take corrective action when necessary regarding labeling and management of product movement

  • Educate and instruct employees on issues such as quality control testing, equipment sanitation, and general sanitation practices 

  • Consult with management and personnel on improved operational procedures 

  • Function as an information source on critical quality issues

  • Prepare and submit reports in accordance with training 

  • Perform HACCP, NELS, and Quality Tests

  • Perform immediate and corrective action involving deviation from critical limit

  • Perform product temperature readings for truck trailers

  • Work cooperatively with USDA

  • All other relevant duties as assigned

Physical/Environmental Factors:


  • Cold, damp, humid environment with temperatures ranging from 40 to 90 degrees

  • Exposure to noise levels greater than 85 decibels

  • Able to bend, stoop, and ~30+ lbs.

  • Able to stand for extended periods of time 

  • Exposure to strong odors, including ammonia

  • Bachelor degree in food science, biology, chemistry or other closely related field preferred

  • 1+ years leadership experience

  • Poultry, manufacturing or other related industry experience preferred

  • Previous quality experience preferred

  • Good communication skills

  • Self starter, with ability to work with little supervision

  • Maintain good attendance 

  • Possess positive attitude, flexibility, adaptability, and willingness to work within a team setting
