Job Description:

Job Responsibilities and Duties: (Percentages = priority and approximate time focus)
This position will assist in formulating and on boarding a wide range of new, innovative products in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.


1. Ensure R&D Chemists are supported in formulation development and customer formula on boarding. 60%
• Ensures lab batches are made accurately and timely.
• Ensure results are accurately recorded in laboratory notebook.
• Ensure supporting documents and forms are completed and maintained.
• Conduct physical property testing and data analysis to support product performance and specifications.
• Conduct all necessary calculations and record experimental data and observations in laboratory notebook following GLP guidelines.
• Prepare tables, charts, graphs, and written summaries of experimental results.
• Communicate project status to stakeholders.


2. Support laboratory housekeeping, supplies, raw materials, and documentation. 30%
• Assist Sr R&D Specialist with documentation as needed.
• Maintain inventory of raw materials for laboratory batches
• Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies
• Maintain laboratory in a clean, GMP manner


3. Understand and maintain a culture of “lean action” within the department so that we live lean better than any organization. 5%
• Implement and maintain standards and processes that eliminate waste throughout the department.
• Apply and utilize “lean tools” to permanently implement improvements.
• Institutionalize 5-S in all aspects of the department. (Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain)


4. Perform other work as assigned. 5%


Qualification and Skill Requirements:


Understands and leverages technologies- In this context, technology is defined as chemical scientific know-how that is embodied in people, facilities, patents, laboratories and equipment. In essence, technology represents the framework that underpins a company’s future products, as well as the development and manufacturing processes that support these products.


Technical Competencies:


  • Use processes and technology to document product development requirements

  • Use processes and technology to improve the quality and efficiency of project implementation

  • Can maintain and grow technical knowledge and expertise

  • Well organized and thorough in work habits

  • Can be accurate, precise, and pay attention to detail

  • Is proficient is Microsoft Office applications

  • Can read and write at high school level or beyond

  • Understand and complete mathematical calculations in support of formula conversions

  • Ability to learn MRP system and internal company software
