Job Description:

The Therapist I is a licensed, Master's level clinician who is responsible for providing all individual, group, and family therapy for the children & families for one assigned unit.  The Therapist I is a member of a multidisciplinary team and provides clinical guidance to the residential staff and the Team.  This individual carries a caseload of approximately 12 children and their families.


JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:


• Provides individual, group and family therapy consistent with treatment goals.
• Communicates and assists in the implementation of the Program's philosophy of parental engagement and involvement and community based strategies as an essential part of treatment planning and the overall program.  This may require working with youth and families within the home environment.
• Completes all clinical documentation within required timelines. 
• Collaborates with team members to develop and to monitor the Individual Treatment Plans.  Attends weekly team meetings to review cases for individual children and update treatment plans and recommendations. 
• Communicates and coordinates with team members and other departments to ensure adequate and consistent services. 
• Participates in admissions (and corresponding documentation as needed) to the unit/program and ensures the completion of required documentation.
• Actively participates in integrating the SURF philosophy within the therapeutic milieu and attends unit SURF meetings. Promotes the philosophy of trauma-informed care and an integrated behavioral health approach.  
• Participates in discharge planning to include making necessary referrals and coordination of services with outpatient providers.
• MSDE school social work certification required for MSWs.
• Serves on committees and work groups as assigned.
• All other duties as assigned.
• Respects children's and family's rights by recognizing the dignity of each individual, encouraging their participation in problem solving and decision-making and maintaining the confidentiality of all client information.
• Maintains the environment of care by complying with therapeutic standards, risk management policy, and procedures for maintaining client safety.
• Contributes to Performance Improvement at the individual, department, and agency levels.
• Accurately applies knowledge of treatment approaches appropriate to the physical and developmental age of clients served.
• Understands and applies policies and procedures for infection control.
• Attends all required training and in-service courses (CPR, Crisis Intervention, Emergency Procedures, Infection Control, etc.).


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:


Master degree in Social work or a related Human Service field (i.e. counseling or clinical psychology) with relevant licensure at the graduate level (LMSW, LGPC, LCPC or LCSW-C).
Must have the ability to travel to different locations for meetings and training.  If driving on agency business, must have a valid driver's license with no more than three (3) points.  Must have sufficient vision, hearing and speech in order to perform the essential functions of the job.
The incumbent is required to obtain, maintain and provide the contact number of a Cellular Telephone. The incumbent would be required to be available and respond (at times on site) to work related telephone calls as needed.


CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:




  • Therapist I: LMSW or LGPC

    • The Therapist I is licensed and works while receiving weekly supervision.




  • Therapist II: LCSW-C or LCPC

    • Minimum two years post-graduate experience in providing behavioral health services.

    • Therapist II's are expected to be self-sufficient with limited supervisory input.
