POSITION SUMMARY


IDL, located in Western, PA, has a full-time Internship opening for the Summer 2021 semester.

The Project Management Internship with IDL requires a confident, independent, driven candidate with a sense of urgency and the ability to make decisions and take responsibility for them. A well-suited candidate can react and adjust quickly to changing conditions and come up with practical ideas for dealing with them. The style is purposeful, directed at getting things done quickly. There is a lot of challenges and pressure, and people and problems must be handled with confidence and determination.

The position requires a self-disciplined person who can handle details as long as they are only an intermittent aspect of the job and not the primary responsibility. This job requires self-assurance and competitive drive. There is a strong demand for high-quality, organized and repeatable results. The responsibilities are broad in scope, encompassing a wide variety of activities requiring rapid shifts in priorities. This is primarily a task-focused role, requiring a somewhat authoritative, directive leadership style that encourages results-driven, task-oriented collaboration.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:



  • Prepare project documentation in advance of production planning meetings and help compile notes to populate project plans throughout the project planning cycle.

  • Download and distribute updated system information regarding raw material availability, drop stock inventory, finished goods inventory levels, and project status.

  • Assist in entering work requests for ordering project materials, printing carton labels and instruction sheets, and generating production orders and job packets.

  • Collaborate with downstream production departments to support daily shop floor activity and provide updates against established project milestones.

  • Relay critical updates to project managers regarding various department schedules that may require strategic order sequencing.

  • Help project managers to achieve quality plans by supporting quality first-off inspections, in-process QC checks, and other QC tasks identified in the project planning phase.

  • Pull and update department performance data to populate KPI measurements - Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Value performance against goals.

  • Support project managers and account teams by pulling together monthly data to update client-facing KPI's such as on-time delivery, customer returns, and client-owned inventory stock-outs.

  • Update documentation that evolves as a result of continuous improvement initiatives, including standard work instructions, account alignments, and reference documents and templates.

  • Attend and participate in daily team meetings, monthly department meetings, as well as site committee meetings, and send out meeting minutes capturing actions and key takeaways.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Supports day-to-day operations developing a general understanding of all aspects of IDL functions including policies, procedures and processes.

  • Gains exposure to various assessments and resources.

  • The primary focus will be working with and supporting the Project Management department.

  • Provides assistance with special projects as needed.

  • Additional duties are assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:



  • Current enrollment in graduate or undergraduate degree program in a Project Management, Engineering, Graphic Design or related field.

  • A high degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications.

  • Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning).

  • Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts.

  • Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients.

  • Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.

  • Ability to work with and influence peers and management.

  • Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting.

PHYSICAL ASPECTS / WORK ENVIRONMENT:



  • Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk, hear and see.

  • Regularly/Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. (Standard is 10lbs, modify as needed)

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
