News Photographer, KPAX
The E.W. Scripps news station KPAX, in Missoula, MT is currently hiring for a News Photographer. If you have a passion for visual storytelling and love Western Montana, this is the job for you. This person will shoot and edit visual content for our digital and broadcast platforms and be responsible for operating various news gathering equipment, including but not limited to bonded cellular live equipment, video camera, and video editing equipment.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
Shoot and edit visual content for multimedia platforms, including internet and digital channels
Work cooperatively with anchor or reporter assigned to a story and newsroom to develop and produce stories
Work independently to shoot and edit stories for news and sports
Operate various news gathering equipment, including but not limited to bonded cellular live equipment, video camera, and video editing equipment
Drive the company vehicle for business purposes
Perform other duties as assigned
Work with News Director to critique multi-media journalist shooting and editing
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
College degree preferred but will accept a high school diploma or equivalent experience required.
3+ years experience as a photographer
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
Valid driver's license and good driving record required. In addition, proof of insurance and liability coverage may be required
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
Must have passion for news, sports and visual storytelling
Advanced training in writing, video editing, video production, graphics, audio production, music editing, sound effects
Great eye for shot composition and video editing
Knowledge and demonstration of creativity, editorial judgment, journalistic ethics and libel laws
Able to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, team-oriented environment
Proficiency with bonded cellular live equipment
