About the Job

We are expanding our team and seeking an experienced, self-motivated archaeologist to join our San Juan Capistrano office. You should reside or have experience in the southern California and be prepared to be a key contributing member of our team.

Your role will be to lead, direct, and manage smaller projects and assist with the management of larger projects; assist with the development of research designs; and mentor staff. You should be able to work full time and have the ability to travel. This position provides a great opportunity for a motivated individual to help grow an excellent cultural resources team.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct and help supervise all aspects of archaeological field research, including, but not limited to: survey, data collection, inventory, and analysis


• Interact with clients and agency staff in the field


• Direct data recovery efforts in the field


• Assist and collaborate on projects with staff and project managers in other offices, as needed.

Minimum Requirements

• Minimum of a bachelor's degree in Archaeology or Anthropology


• Supervisory archaeological fieldwork experience


• Minimum of 8 years' experience conducting archaeological fieldwork in southern California

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong, concise writing in preparation of daily logs


• Demonstrated field survey skills


• Experience using ESRI Collector


• Ability to provide and receive feedback, to develop and maintain positive relationships, and to resolve conflict through collaboration and communication


• Willingness and ability to travel


• Team-oriented attitude and approach
