Position Summary
This position is responsible for managing a 7 day per week 24 hour per day manufacturing facility. Requires focus on increasing productivity while ensuring all employees follow industry standard health and safety guidelines. Works with management to sets goals and motivates all employees to work together to accomplish these goals. This position will also be the Safety Manager for the office, production and off-site service work at industrial facilities.
Major Duties:
Manage and evaluate machine resources to ensure productivity and minimal downtime
Oversee a workforce of 25+ employees in the manufacturing department
Safety Manager to 60+ employees on site and in the field
Maintain safety and training records and equipment in accordance with OSHA requirements
Ensure all employees follow industry standard health and safety guidelines
Strive to reduce expenses and increase productivity across all product lines
Purchase and maintain tooling and PPE supplies necessary for production
Set ambitious production goals and communicate them to key personnel
Provide motivation, support and guidance to all employees
Communicate any problems or obstacles to senior management
Establish workflow policies that enhance speed and efficiency without compromising product safety or integrity
Create schedules for employees to ensure optimum staffing levels
Recruit and hire all positions in production department
The person in this role will report to the Director of Operations. Key interaction will be with management, logistics, customer service production planning, production engineering and engineering. The candidate will need to be self-motivated and able to handle / coordinate a heavy workload. Responsible for managing a multi-shift manufacturing plant. Current plant runs 3 shifts 7 days a week.

Specialized Job Skills
Thorough knowledge of modern office practices and procedures by use of office machines, internet resources and Must be proficient in MS Office. Prefer SAP experience
Thorough knowledge of policies and procedures of the company; ability to understand pertinent policies and procedures clearly and accurately.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervising personnel, co-workers, subordinates, business professionals, and the general public.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Excellent project management skills
Strong with Lean / 5S Manufacturing Principles
Proven track record of successfully training employees in productivity and safety
Working knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations
Ability to coach and mentor employees on a one-on-one basis as well as as a group
Basic Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in industrial technology, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Business Management or related field required. Requires 5 or more years' experience in a manufacturing environment. Periodic travel may be required which includes overnight stays.
Relationship
The Production Manager will report directly to the Director of Operations - Knife Systems
Physical Demands
The physical demands of this position require the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time. Requires extended movements including stooping, bending and lifting or carrying up to 25 pounds. Make visual inspections with precise hand and finger movements, with reasoning and problem-solving ability.
Work Environment
Position is primarily in an air-conditioned production and office environment. Substantial time is spent on shop floor and outdoor work areas where there is no climate control and personal protective equipment is required, including but not limited to steel toed shoes/boots and safety glasses.
