Performs both standard and specialized
Electroencephalograph recordings in the EEG laboratory and all inpatient care
units of the medical center. Performs
Evoked potential testing and long term inpatient video monitoring. Trains lower level technologists, trainees
and assigned resident.
Responsibilities: A listing of the key responsibilities:
Secures
appropriate patient information, explains test procedures to patients and
provides patient support and comfort.
Performs routine EEG’s. Attaches
electrodes in standard 10-20 positions.
Continually evaluates the quality and accuracy of recordings and
documents activities. Recognizes need to
vary positioning and recording procedures based on initial recordings, patient
response and diagnostic goal.
Recognizes,
monitors, and/or eliminates electrode artifacts.
Enhances
EEG abnormalities by implementing alternative nonstandard montages and machine
settings.
Performs
routing activation procedures such as hyperventilation and photic stimulation.
Has
knowledge of how various medical and pharmacological conditions affect the EEG.
Recognizes
concerning events on the EEG and invasive recordings and alerts the appropriate
medical staff as soon as concerning event is recognized.
Performs
specialized EEG procedures, adapting procedures to particular clinical
circumstances.
Performs
long term inpatient video monitoring, both scalp and invasive.
Understand
clinical correlation of abnormal EEG patterns and how they pertain to various
disease states. Communicates appropriate
questions or questionable findings to appropriate clinical staff.
Utilizes
computer averaging equipment to measure visual, brain stem auditory, and
somatosensory evoked responses.
Reviews
recordings obtained and prepares preliminary interpretation for physician
approval.
Observes
sanitation protocols and techniques pertaining to the cleaning of electrodes,
work areas and equipment. Properly
cleans and adjusts EEG instrumentation.
Records,
inspects, and ensure proper maintenance of EEG and computer averaging
machinery.
Trains
lower level technologists and trainees on how to perform EEG and evoked
potential procedures.
Teaches
assigned residents in EEG procedures.
Performs
other duties as required or assigned.

Minimum
Qualifications:
Four (4) years of experience in EEG
testing in both outpatient and inpatient environment.
One (1) year of experience in video EEG
monitoring.
Maturity and ability to establish good
rapport with patients, public and staff.
Capacity to deal with severely ill
patients.
Required
Licensure/Certification Skills:
ABRET (American Board of Registration of
Electroencephalogy and Evoked Potential Technologists) R. EEG T. credential.
Currently registered in
the state of New Hampshire as a Medical Technician.*
*The
state of New Hampshire requires that this position be registered as a Medical
Technician per NH RSA 328-1. If not
currently registered, the candidate must be willing to obtain registration
prior to beginning employment. D-H will
provide assistance (including payment of fees) in obtaining registration.
