Volunteers of America is looking for an enthusiastic and task oriented individual to join our Human Resources team. As a Human Resources Assistant, you will be instrumental in supporting our recruiting and hiring initiatives by meeting with new team members to facilitate the new hire process, including completing the paperwork, processing backgrounds and drug tests, and arranging for all initial trainings including general orientation.


Supporting Valley Manor Care Center, The Homestead at Montrose, Horizons Health Care, Home Health of Western Colorado, and the Colorado Float Team, the Human Resources (HR) Department partners with employees and department managers for a variety of issues, such as recruitment and onboarding, workers compensation administration, training and development programs, policy and procedure enforcement, employee relations, benefits, and a variety of other issues. Our team is made up of knowledgeable and compassionate individuals whose mission is to provide the best service and resources possible to those that we serve.


HR Assistant skills we're looking for include excellent organization ability, familiarity with HR software and strong communication skills. To be an ideal candidate for the human resources assistant position, you should have a working knowledge of HR practices, be able to keep information confidential, and have some experience in the healthcare industry. You should be able to work autonomously and remain calm under pressure. Ultimately, you'll ensure our HR department is organized and operates smoothly to attract, hire and retain our employees.

Job Requirements




QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Certification or degree in Human Resources, organizational development or comparable personnel training and experience.
  2. Minimum two (2) years Human Resources and/or administrative experience, preferably in a health care environment.
  3. Extensive knowledge of personnel/employee relations to include payroll, benefits, wage and salary administration, recruitment and selection, unemployment compensation, worker's compensation, EEO and affirmative action.
  4. Working knowledge of basic administrative, clerical, accounting and computer functions. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail and Internet.
  5. Broad knowledge of Federal and State laws, rules, regulations and guidelines relating to employment.
  6. Proven ability to manage multiple projects to a deadline.
  7. Well-developed oral and written communication, facilitation and presentation skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and to coach and counsel staff effectively.
  8. Strong interpersonal skills; consumer focused.
  9. Attentive to detail.
  10. Flexible
