An interest in SBA Lending and Commercial Banking and working with people, building relationships and providing the best customer experience possible is essential to this role.
Commercial Credit Analyst Core Responsibilities:
Review original documents to understand the nature of new loan requests and SBA eligible use of proceeds.
Spread and analyze financial statements, tax returns, personal financial statements, financial projections, and relevant information from business plans into spreadsheet templates to determine cash flow and potential repayment ability of the prospective borrower.
Review all relevant third party reports (business & personal credit reports, etc.), identify potential risks. Search for available data on public websites as necessary to support the Loan Presentation
Generate initial questions and request for missing documents to sales officer and customer in timely fashion in order to complete Loan Presentation; assist and provide input on corrections in loan structure as necessary.
Conduct communication with sales officer and customer to facilitate the gathering and synthesis of all relevant and necessary information. Participate in site visits if feasible.
Complete the Loan Presentation narrative write-up, assimilating all relevant facts to provide an accurate picture of the transaction’s strengths and weaknesses.
A minimum of two (2) years of credit analysis experience within a financial institution.
A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or related field.
Knowledge of SBA loan structuring, underwriting, documentation and credit.
Thorough understanding of risks (market, rate, leverage, etc.) as it applies to the underwriting process.
Strong knowledge of loan agreements, assumptions, accounting, loan structuring, and collateral procedures.
Knowledge of SBA 7a, 504 and CAPline programs, and eligibility requirements is helpful.
Formal Credit Training is a plus.
Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift frequently.
Exceptional analytical, reasoning, organization, problem solving and time management skills.
Working knowledge of federal and state banking regulations.
Strong ability to work in a team based environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
