About This Position

The Department of Medicine - Katz Center - at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine, has an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Associate. This position will be involved in research involving:

  • Molecular techniques/methods (PCR, Western Blot, lmmunoprecipitation, ELISA, Cloning, Protein extraction methods, Lipid extraction methods, Cell culture, Microscopy, etc.)

  • Cell culture techniques (culture of primary human and mouse cells, culture of cell lines)

  • Working with genetically modified mice (breeding, genotyping, small surgery, tissue sample preparation)

  • Working with human and mouse plasma samples

Duties and responsibilities for this position may include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting research on specific areas of study as assigned.

  • Preparing research reports and technical papers for publishing.

  • Investigating the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and theories.

  • Maintaining substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories.

  • Developing advanced analytical models and systems and providing solutions and analyses to
    support strategic and tactical decisions.

  • Adhering to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguarding University

Minimum Qualifications

Ph.D. or other doctoral degree in a basic science or health discipline. Prefer research experience in a laboratory setting. Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data. Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems. Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions. Prefer research experience in a laboratory setting to include using molecular techniques/methods (PCR, Western Blot, Immunoprecipitation, ELISA; cloning, protein extraction methods, lipid extraction methods, cell culture, microscopy, etc.); cell culture techniques (culture of primary human and mouse cells, culture of cell lines); working with genetically modified mice (breeding, genotyping, small surgery, tissue sample; and working with human and mouse plasma samples.
