Job Summary:

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:



PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Develops a system wide employee safety program and appropriate standards focused on achieving designated organizational goals to decrease employee injuries.

  • Ensures the organization and employees are following appropriate OSHA safety standards.

  • Provides key guidance and facilitation for achievement of safety program goals and objectives.

  • Conducts audits on work processes to identify potential safety hazards.

  • Reviews and trends occurrence reports to determine where changes need to be made to prevent future similar injuries/incidents.

  • Develops and maintains a measurement system to track performance metrics: Compiles, reviews, analyzes, and interprets data and communicates to designated stakeholders.

  • Leads or serves on system safety committee and appropriate employee safety teams focused on workplace safety practices.

  • Identifies current regulatory challenges and emerging employee safety issues that may impact the organization. Obtains and communicates benchmarking data (e.g., best practices), when appropriate. Stays current with the latest knowledge.

  • Utilizes contemporary safety methodology to determine, devise, measure and provide ongoing training to control or eliminate hazards and reduce errors in human performance. Works in collaboration with clinical education to develop specific training & education programs.

  • As an SSM Health nurse, I will demonstrate the professional nursing standards defined in the professional practice model.

  • Uses the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses to guide his/her response to the current and evolving health and nursing needs of our patients and our patient populations.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.



EDUCATION


  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing or related field



EXPERIENCE


  • Eight years' clinical experience, with five years in leadership



PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS


  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.

  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.

  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.

  • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.

  • Frequent keyboard use/data entry.

  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.

  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.

  • Rare climbing.




Licenses / Certifications:

Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA), Registered Nurse (RN) - State of Work Location or Compact Multi-State License
