Working under general supervision from lab members, executes protocols involving a variety of routine and non-routine experiments at a professional level. Troubleshoots and implements modifications on existing techniques, as appropriate. May suggest alternate technical routes and suggest options based upon research in the literature. Calculates, transcribes, and analyzes data using proper techniques. This is a great opportunity for a student who is looking for research experience.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain (breed) and genotype (PCR) transgenic mice, to euthanize/perfuse mice, extract organs (i.e. brain, plasma, liver) and conduct protein extractions and histological sections
Assist or perform mouse behavioral studies (motor/cognition)
Order reagents and supplies and prepare preparations of needed reagents for all procedures
All other duties, as assigned.
High School Diploma Required.
Excellent interpersonal skills, excellent oral and written communication, comfortable talking on the phone.
Excellent interpersonal skills to be able to interact with a variety of people and on the telephone.
Strong team player and can communicate well within an interdisciplinary team.
High level of organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
Ability to follow directions and protocol requirements.
Normal laboratory environment.
May be exposed, under controlled conditions to hazardous materials.
