Job Title: Electrician


Job Summary: EMCOR Government Services has an immediate need for an Electricianin Ft. Hood TX. The Electrician trouble shoots, repairs, installs, and performs Preventative Maintenance (PM) on all electrical systems within the hospital, the Central Utilities Plant (CUP), and other buildings related to the contract by performing the following duties. This position requires a Journeyman's license with both mechanical and electrical aptitudes. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.



  • Provide leadership and direction to electrical subcontractors, as needed.

  • Ensures that lighting throughout the hospital is in working order through regular maintenance checks, replacement of defective parts, and repairs as required according to CM/PM policies.

  • Performs the maintenance and repair of electrical switchgear and distribution equipment, kitchen equipment, and other electrical equipment in accordance with specifications.

  • Perform maintenance and repair on large hospital-wide systems including (but not limited to) pneumatic tubes system, nurse call system, emergency power, lighting controls, mass notification, and fire alarm system. Maintain a current competency for these systems.

  • Remain knowledgeable and proficient with the electrical distribution system for each building on campus. Create and maintain both single-line drawings and distribution maps for the electrical system.

  • Accomplishes work in accordance with blueprints and specifications, and national and local codes. Updates as-built drawings as necessary, according to department policies.

  • Maintains records of electrical preventive and corrective maintenance activities as required; performs corrective and preventive maintenance tests as necessary, according to department policies.

  • Installs wiring, switches, receptacles and other electrical devices as assigned, in accordance with national electrical codes.

  • Independently performs electrical systems tasks in patient rooms, including television, nurse call apparatus, lighting and receptacles according to PM check list.

  • Repair and install electrical devices such as receptacles, light fixtures, light switches, lighting ballast, motors, etc.

  • Install electrical conduit and related boxes.

  • Perform Preventative Maintenance (PM) on various electrical devices.

  • Participate in the monthly emergency generator testing.

  • Be able to read and understand architectural, mechanical, and electrical drawings.

  • Be able to read and understand electrical schematics.

  • Be able to read and understand manufacture's submittals and literature.

  • Be able to specify, locate and order material and replacement parts.

  • Be able to understand and implement national electrical codes, life safety codes and fully comply to NFPA 70E Arc Flash Protection.

  • Be able to understand and implement infectious control policies and procedures.

  • Follow and implement standard Lock Out / Tag Out policies and procedures.

  • Complete Work Order and Preventative Maintenance (PM) paperwork in a timely and professional manner.

  • Participates in the computerized maintenance management system for work and equipment documentation

  • Attend weekly Tool Box safety meetings and demonstrate safety competency.

  • Obtain an OSHA 10 General Industry Safety and Health standards certification as well as the NFPA 70E Arc Flash protection.

  • Ability to work extended hours or weekend overtime as needed.


Qualifications:



  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience (electrical, emergency power systems, general repairs, fire life safety).

  • Must be able to pass and maintain a Fort Hood security clearance.

  • At a minimum, Journeyman Electrician license.

  • Certification on hospital specific electrical systems is highly desirable.

  • Must have a current driver's license.

  • Ability to work extended hours or weekend overtime as needed.

  • Must complete the OSHA 10 General Safety and Health training class (supplied by EMCOR).

The employee must receive medical shots as required by the Fort Hood Hospital. The annual flu shot and annual TB testing are mandatory, but additional shots maybe required as related to the employee's position.
