Primary Location: Reports to Corporate Headquarters in Monterey, CA

Additional Locations: United States (Remote)

Under the general direction of the Director of Payroll, the Payroll Manager is responsible for the processing of the Workday/ADP payrolls as well as time and attendance, tax compliance, and reporting. This position also trains, supervises, and manages payroll staff to ensure that high quality and timely service is provided to employees and others.

Responsibilities and required skills:




  • Acts as functional lead in applications that include Workday payroll; ADP payroll and tax; time and attendance; and other systems related to payroll processing




  • Manages all aspects of payroll and payroll tax delivery and ensures that pay is processed in compliance with Federal, state, and local laws




  • Oversees the reconciliation of all payrolls




  • Coordinates quarterly and year-end tax returns with ADP




  • Responds to requests from employees, management, as well as internal and external auditors




  • Monitors internal controls to ensure they meet control objectives and ensure that they are being followed by subordinate staff




  • Certifies that all payroll processes are SOX compliant




  • Pocesses a thorough understanding of supervisory principles including hiring scheduling, direction, development, and managing others




  • Maintains a strong work ethic; a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality


Qualifications:




  • Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or related field required




  • Payroll experience as a payroll analyst, supervisor, or manager




  • Member of the American Payroll Association and credentialed as a Certified Payroll Professional




  • Proficiency in HCM software including Workday and ADP as well as Microsoft Office, and other systems




  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills




  • Strong analytical, attention-to-detail; problem solving skills


Must be able to:




  • Use a computer up to a minimum of 8 hours a day




  • Use a telephone handset and/or headset throughout the work day
