The basic function of the production technician in the assembly organization is to perform the necessary tasks involved in the process of assembling carriers and components required to manufacture tandem front/rear heavy duty drive axles.
Job Responsibilites:
Assemble differential carriers as defined by standard work instructions in which the sequence has been efficiently and safely organized, and is repeatedly followed to ensure quality and adherence to design engineering specifications
Work in a team environment on an assembly line according to standardized work components of process/line time, work sequence and standard work in process.
Ensure built in quality criteria of product utilizing Meritor systems including no fault forward, mistake avoidance and alert systems as well as self-checks and succession checks.
Ensure that no problems are passed to the next operation and strive for zero defects.
Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, dial indicators, and micrometers as required to determine adherence of product characteristics to prescribed specifications.
Read, comprehend, and execute standard work instructions, control plans and bills of materials
Comply with all safety requirements including proper use of personnel protective equipment, operation of machinery is performed and use of hand tools in accordance with established procedures, for the safety of the individual, and all employees.
Initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any nonconformities relating to product, process, and quality systems. Escalate to Team Lead or Facilitator as identified by procedures
Perform safety, equipment inspections and housekeeping organization as defined per 5-S standards
Participate actively in Employee Involvement and Kaizen teams to achieve site strategic initiatives and continuous improvement goals in accordance to the Meritor Production System
Technical/Professional Knowledge/Training and Skills:
Minimum one year of manufacturing experience
Must be able to use precision measuring instruments such as snap gages, height gages, and micrometers.
Must be able to read, understand, and use standard work instructions
Education/Certifications:
Must have High School Diploma or GED
Required Qualifications:
Must be flexible and be able to work in a team environment.
