Job Description:

Senior Associate, International Tax

Alvarez & Marsal Taxand, LLC is currently looking for an Associate or Senior Associate for our International tax team in New York. This position seeks a diverse tax background with a focus in providing international tax and consulting services to our clients.

What do we do?

Our International Tax Services include:


  • Performing IP migrations, integration planning, international M&A, and foreign tax planning

  • Assistance with US international tax diligence and coordination of foreign offices for local country tax diligence

  • Acquisition, disposition and internal restructuring

  • Assist tax provision and compliance teams with the proper computation and reporting of Section 965, Section 951A, Section 59A, Section 163(j), including modeling tax expense impact of these and other tax reform provisions.

  • Modeling transaction scenarios across jurisdictions

  • Identifying matters to be addressed post-closing, including integration related risks and opportunities

How you'll contribute


  • Develop and deliver quality tax planning approaches with timely and responsive services and work product that meets and/or exceeds client expectations;

  • Perform due diligence including review of tax returns, financials, and other tax documentation to evaluate potential tax risks and opportunities;

  • Prepare financial and tax models computing cash tax impacts of proposed planning.

  • Research technical issues pertaining to Sub C international issues, debt restructuring issues, reorganizations, and restructurings;

  • Draft technical memoranda and opinions;

  • Coordinate with foreign offices and other international tax and transfer pricing team members, to deliver highest quality integrated work product

Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, preferred

  • CPA, JD, Masters in Taxation, or LL.M desirable

  • 2+ years of tax accounting experience

  • Experience with one of the following

    • Experience with accounting periods and methods, compensation, Sub C or Sub K

    • Global cash tax scenario modeling

    • FTC computations, especially 861 calculations



  • Intermediate Excel skills (Intermediate excel skills (e.g., GILTI, BEAT, FDII model building)

  • Understanding of inbound, outbound, Sub F, PFIC, FIRPTA, FATCA, CTB, treaties, BEPS, etc.

  • Strong writing, analytical, research and organizational skills

  • Strong communication, presentation, project management, and business development skills

  • Strong sense of personal motivation as well as the ability to work with a team

  • Ability to work in dynamic, time-sensitive environment

  • Demonstrate an understanding of increasingly complex tax concepts and effectively apply tax knowledge to client situations
