A&M's Public Sector Services Practice

Since 2003, Alvarez & Marsal Public Sector Services (PSS) has helped government, education, and non-profit clients. Applying our operational and financial improvement principles to address the unique challenges facing public sector organizations, PSS works collaboratively with management to stabilize performance through a hands-on, results-driven approach.

Job Description

PSS has three service lines:


  • Education: including K-12 and Higher Education

  • Health and Human Services (HHS)

  • State and Local (S&L)

A&M's S&L service line includes all state and local clients that are not otherwise served by the Education or HHS service lines . The target market generally consists of states and medium-to-large municipalities (and agencies within each) that are experiencing financial challenges and/or seeking to improve operational performance.

PSS leadership is looking to hire a leader for our S&L service line that will:


  • Drive new business for our service line / practice

  • Deliver outstanding value for our existing clients in a hands-on manner

  • Serve as a mentor to and develop our professional staff

Qualifications


  • Significant experience as an executive in a state and local government

  • Proven ability of driving tangible results and / or transformation for the agency / organization

  • Strong analytical skills focused on creative problem solving

  • Strong management and communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to navigate complex political situations in the public sector

  • A track record of building strong relationships with key stakeholders and influencing key decision makers

  • Willingness to leverage professional network to source new client opportunities

  • Bachelor's degree required; graduate degree a plus

  • Demonstrate proficiency with most or all of the following:

    • Use Excel and other MS Office programs as the primary tool to perform analysis and present conclusions

    • Extract useful information from large sets of unorganized or incomplete data

    • Understand key operational performance drivers with operational processes

    • Able to work independently, meet deadlines, and handle multiple tasks concurrently

    • Willing to travel
